You may wish to re-read what I wrote. I said that NEW ICE sales will be destroyed. That means that they will drop a great deal when Model 3 hits the market. That does not mean that it will stop all sales. Nor does it mean that everybody will instantly stop driving ICE vehicles.
However, I would be shocked if ICE sales are not down by 25% before end of 2018. In addition, by that time, all of the major car makers will be screaming bloody murder about how much sales are down and that they need new money from their govs to move to electric (though German car makers are currently being forced by their crimes combined with their gov forcing them).

And if you do not think that M3 will make a splash, then simply watch what happens in the next 10 days.

Seriously, this is smart for Rockefeller's fund, because oil and coal will really plummet in another 5-10 years. Keep in mind that while EVs in 2 years are likely to destroy new ICE vehicle sales, current cars/trucks will be around for a LONG TIME. In addition, oil's greatest and best use was never for energy, but for chemistry. As such, it will never go to zero, but close.
Exxon's value is going to go way down, but oil use will simply continue a slow downward spiral to about 1/3-1/4 of current usage.

    nope.
First off, the old plants that are retiring are a fraction of the SIZE and NUMBER. They retire 1 every month OR 2.
Secondly, their load capacity is over 50%. The table shows that 2014 capacity was 907 GW, with production of 3959,000 twh. If you assume that the number for plants was around 850 gw (907 was 2014, not 2013), then you have an average capacity of 52%.
AND only a FEW are ran at 30%. These are the ones in which the gov built at what are now ghost cities. The vast majority of China's coal plants ran at 60% or more. That is also why the Chinese air is SOOOO dirty.

  6. Is this to compete on China Is On an Epic Solar Power Binge (technologyreview.com) · · Score: 1, Interesting

Against solar city? Seriously, China invests far far more into coal plants and mines each year. Heck, China is around 1100-1300 GW of coal plants ( Chinese gov numbers do not agree with what locals claim and what the plants are ). And this is growing at ~52 GW/ yr. Solar will not make a dent in their coal unless they stop building new plants and stop their old ones.

solar and wind can not do the job by themselves. Even if we add geo-thermal (and we should), it will still not be enough. We need to add new nukes, but not the 1GW gen 3 reactors. Instead, we need to add gen IV reactors and burn up the vast majority of the 'waste' that we have. Most importantly, by adding new reactors, these can replace old ones, and go into replacing the majority of coal plants.

  11. and yet, when the top scientists of the anti climate change group, dr. muller, got funding from the kock bros and looked into this, they changed their opinion. Basically, they showed that there can be little doubt that Climate change is occurring and that it is man-made. And yet, you far right wing nut jobs continue to ignore real scientists doing real work and showing it to be true.

So, fools like you can make wild claims, but the smart man says that if this is killing all of us, and if the current solutions are putting all the blame on the west (who all together is doing less than 1/3 of the emissions), should instead push to have ALL nations cutting their emissions TOGETHER.
Oddly, America is the ONLY nation that can force this. Why? Because we import more than all other nations.
