this is NOT a design issue. For the love of pete, one car was in a massive head-on, while the other 2 ran over something that would have destroyed the engine, the gas tank, or the passenger compartment. And then there would have been a fire in which you burn up.
OTOH, in this case, you had 2 fires in which the passenger had loads of time to pull over and then walk away, and the 3rd in which they had a massive accident (and likely would have killed you in any ICE car), and they walked away from it.

So... Here we have a government agency, which is funded by taxpayers, going completely off the rails and spends fortunes on snooping potential terrorists like the leaders of Germany, France, Spain -- not to mention entire countries which are supposedly allies. And you are saying it is not in the interests of the US citizens to know this?

If you think that the ONLY reason for the NSA is to stop terrorism, then you are seriously lacking in education.
And I said that it was treason for snowden to talk about our LEGAL OPERATIONS against the rest of the world. Heck, all of the leaders know that we do this. Germans knew it. They have been doing it to us and others (including china). And the only way that this works, is when ppl do not know what capabilities you have or don't have.

Besides, I am convinced that if the US public had reacted to the first batch of leaks (you know, the one which you did still consider "proper" whistleblowing) with anything more than the shameful apathy now on display, Snowden might not even have released any more.

First off, the NSA does not spy on every Americans. They do not have that capability.
Secondly, the NSA said that less than 2% (.2%?) of Americans had been spied on BY THE NSA. And even snowden did NOT dispute that.

And I doubt that you understand how snowden feels.

And the nice thing about having CNG/LNG is that coal can be converted to methane relatively cleanly.

Even here in Colorado, Xcell is installing multiple nat. gas power plants, but they are installing several new wind power parks because they KNOW that nat. gas prices will go up.

  21. So many are so short sighted. The far right will only invest into nat. gas or large uranium based companies such as GE and WestingHouse. The far left wants nothing by 'renewable'. Yet, the reason why America, along with the world, is because we invest far too much into ONE solution. For example, back in 79, hydro provided about 1/3 of our electricity, nuke about 1/3, and fossil fuel about 1/3. From that point on, between the far right pushing fossil fuel and the far left fighting hydro and nukes, by 2005, we switched to 75% fossil fuel, of which 60% was coal. Now, Coal is around 35% and dropping, BUT, nat gas is climbing (better, but not great). However, renewable is NOT growing fast enough and more importantly, it can not.

Out best solution is to move the coal=>methane, with the generated CO2 being disposed of properly, nat gas, renewable esp. wind, and geo-thermal, and NEW nukes being our core ENERGY solution.
And oddly, the new thorium nukes would not only be safer, but would burn ONLY fuel that is ABOVE ground. America is loaded with thorium that was mined long ago. As such, these new nukes could provide 100% of our power for over 100 years, without mining a single item. And yet, we have intelligent ppl even here on /. that will oppose this.
    Sad.
