It absolutely is not hereditary. My wife's father stands 162 cm. His son is about 182 cm. Likewise his 'brothers' (we call them cousins) are similar sized, and again, the kids that grew up in the west are over 182 (a couple are over 190 cm). While genetics will explain a small growth, a jump of 20-30 cm in one generation of multiple children is a sign that the parents height were physically stunted, not genetically. And yeah, the kids got loads of meat. Very little beef, but loads of pork, chicken, turkey, fish, and even some geese (from having spent time in UK). And when my wife's grandparents came over, the families would revert to pure vegetarians.:)

Actually, the dogs are omnivores just like us. They can exists just fine on plants. The problem is that just like us, they need a varied diet that is difficult to do with just plants. For humans, knowledge enables it, but it is still difficult.

Seriously, I would rather have a car that have similar specs and costs to the leaf or the model S, but then be able to get 100K to 1M charges, rather than having a longer driving car, that only takes 1-2K charges. At that point, you can literally drive the car into the ground and still have a use for the storage.
If this takes another decade to come to market, there is a real good chance that super caps will dominate it by then.
Why? To be honest, we really do NOT want it to recharge in 5 minutes. The reason is that you want to make it inconvient to 'fill it up' in the daytime. If it takes say 30-60 minutes to fill up a battery that will get you 300-500 mile range, then ppl will chose to recharge at night.
And yes, there is PLENTY of power in the west for recharging at night. In fact, such an arrangement will actually lower the costs of electricity and encourage nations to install new electric generators all over. The reason is that it is cheaper to send electricity through the country side if it provides power for homes, businesses, and vehicles.

In fact, the production of this would actually require the loss of human life by no less than 4 ppl, though less than 20. However, it would be VERY effective. Probably about 20-33% mortality rate. In addition, it could be spread all over EU and USA in a matter of a week.
Now, as to confining it to the west, well, they would not care about that. They attack China, Russia, EU, USA, Australia, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, all of the middle east, Major parts of Africa, etc. About the ONLY places left out SO FAR, have been Canada and Latin America. From their POV, they can produce an attenuated version of it using the most current virus that was hitting and then inoculate their own ppl hiding in various parts of the world.
The truth is, that AQ or other terrorists, are very likely to use Avian flu in an attack. The reason is that it can easily be converted to a weapon and then run around and spread it all through the west. And yes, AQ DOES know this. The last thing that needs to be done is give them more information that can be used to make it more effective.
