Wrong. The 787 WAS poised to be the most profitable. Then McNerney came onboard and forced it to be outsourced. Worse, it was a total cluster fuck that cost the company so much that no profit will be made until around 1400 787 are made/delivered. Assuming that orders and rate remain at same level, Boeing says profits will start around 2022 . After all , $31B for initial development is nothing to sneeze at.

Lol. Electricity is all over the globe. It is fast, easy AND cheap to add high speed chargers to grids. in less than 6 years, the industry has more high speed chargers in USA and Europe than it took for gas stations to be built up to this level. It took over 60 years , mid 70s or so, for gas stations to get to this level. And in another 5 years , USA/Europe will have more high speed chargers than gas stations. And none of that includes the level 1 and 2 chargers already at home where most ppl will fill up.

Actually, car making space really is not explored at all. Musk is far more automated than others and his margins per car are higher than other car makers, esp since large car makers claim that they have negative margins on EVs. For example, supposedly, bolt is supposed to be a big money loser for GM if u believe their executives.

I normally do not go to seeking alpha, but I have had some good laughs. It is obvious that Tesla is targeted. Look at recent posts i.e. Montana skeptical. The guy has railed on Tesla for the last 4 years, but his most recent is just amazing. Claimed that musk lied about what production line is doing . So where did he get his number from for what the line is producing? Looked at inside EVs page and used their count of what companies delivered in USA only. Now skeptic KNOWS that is only America AND only delivered, not what the line produces, yet FUDS it. The other thing I find interesting is that if you have analysts and then go to tipranking on them. Of all the ones knocking Tesla, they are either at the bottom of all stocks, OR, they have moderate (50%) success on others, while disastrous on Tesla. None of the good ones knock Tesla. But the moderates are interesting. They push sell/short on Tesla even 5 years ago on all of it, but never on other stocks. That hints that they are paid to do this, since it is destroying personal rankings.

Our model s is 5 years old. Still has around 95% on battery. with exception of some early roadsters that used other battery cells, they are above 90%. All Model S with over 250,000 miles on them above 85% , with most having over 90%. Likely, these cars will last 15-20 years on batteries, and I suspect that battery will then cost 1-3k, which less than an engine OR transmission for a Mercedes.

  16. Its funny that you accuse us of being the war monger.
    Lets see.
Cold war? More Communist USSR started with their constant invasions of Europe, and Communist China of Asia. Vietnam? That was France and China, who pulled in America.
Lebanese Civil War? UN pulled us in as peace keepers.
Invasion of Grenada? Yeah, that would be America. Not really a war
Invasion of Panama? Yeah, our invasion to get Noriega was ours. OTOH, not much of a war.
Gulf war? That would be Iraq invading Kuwait and then UN going in to remove Iraq.
    Somalia Civil war? UN intervention.
    Bosnian War? UN Intervention
    Kosovo War? UN Intervention.
Afghanistan? They attacked America. We attacked them
Iraq War 2? Ok, this was America's fault and probably one of the most screwed up that we have done.
Parts of Pakistan? They are harboring terrorists who keep attacking the west.
War in Somalia? Invited by gov to go after ISIS, AQ, and Talibahn.
Ocean Shield? Pirates were attacking boats. UN went in.
Libya? America lead the war, but it was pushed by France and Italy. O did not want it but due to NATO, we had to do it.
GOing after ISIS in Iraq, Syria, Yemeni, etc? UN and most gov. except for Syria. Again, UN and NATO roles
Going after Syria's gov? They used Chemical weapons. UN and NATO intervention.

So, what this shows is that America has actually started very FEW wars (i.e. NOT WAR MONGERING),
but we have kept our words on being part of UN peace keeper roles along with NATO.

We are simply more so than MOST nations.

  18. Some 5-10% of Chinese that are living in America, are spies. Now, they are not active spies, but in essence, they are looking for technology to take back to the chinese gov and sell to them for millions. Not much difference than some of the Spies/Traitors, like Hansen , and quite probably Trump that sold to the Russians.
And yes, I HAVE dealt with 2 Chinese spies already.

  19. Seriously, there are far far too many spies here, with most being Chinese, not Russian.

Don't laugh. Some of my in-laws are in India setting up hand washing stations by the community toilets. They developed and manufacture an inexpensive setup that is also low water use. 21. More of that should go into AE, along with putting up SAFE nuke power around the nation. RIght now, they are too heavily based on Coal. Loads of CO2 being pumped out there. OTOH, if they will stop adding coal plants and start replacing them wind wind, solar, geo-thermal, and nukes they could probably save the reef.

  22. So many on the far left scream about the pollution and heavy resource use of manufacturing, and they absolutely should. BUT, many of these ppl are fine with offshoring. IOW, they are fine with driving their gas cars and using laptops, phones, etc. as long as the oil comes from Africa, middle east, with America oil companies that cut environmental laws, and resources that comes from Africa/South America, where Chinese companies ignore not just environmental laws, but also have no issue with using 7 y.o. labor.
Now, some of this manufacturing is coming to America and they fight it wanting it to go away. Do not like the amount of water that it uses? Then they should work towards cleaning it up and to use less water.
Just shipping this to other nations does not solve a thing.

  23. Is that SpaceX has the lowest $/kg cost by far. Both oatk and SNC would have to cut their prices by ~35% to come close to dragon. But what is important, is that there will now be 3 cargo AND 3 manned crafts in the western fleet. Basically , we will not lose space access again.
