  1. Overlooked shooter on Gaming Sites Sum Up E3 · · Score: 1

The big three shooters were getting a lot of attention, but one PC FPS game (and engine) that seems to have been overlooked (likely because it's no-name title right now, as opposed to sequel) is Far Cry. Looking at the demos they have on GameSpot, it does look pretty impressive and I'm surprised it's getting little press. Anybody see this in person?

  2. Re:what annoys me... on DC Vs. Marvel Vs. Capcom Considered? · · Score: 3, Interesting

Capcom is perpertually stuck in the Street Fighter II universe, which is why there is no development (man, those couple of years must have been really busy for Ryu and co.), unlike Tekken which does grow as a story.

I'd imagine that if they were to release a SFIV, there could be more in the development department. However, considering the difficulty that Capcom had counting to three, I doubt that we'll see it before 2010. So until then, more rehashes: Capcom vs SNK; Capcom vs Marvel; Capcom vs DC; Capcom vs Konami; Capcom vs Collecovision; Capcom vs the cast of LoveBoat; etc.

  3. Re:sad on Nintendo's E3 Press Conference Summary · · Score: 2, Interesting

No, rather, it sounds like what any big game publisher would do. It's sad and unfortunate, but that's the nature of the industry -- rehashes and sequels.

The only difference between Nintendo and, say, Microsoft is that Nintendo has two decades worth of games to draw upon. Microsoft barely has two years... but that doesn't stop them from trying! (Halo 2, Project Gotham Racing 2, Amped 2.. and I guess Doom 3 and Counter-Strike too, among others).

  4. Re:Do you forget Super Game Boy? on Nintendo's E3 Press Conference Summary · · Score: 1

However, the release of GameCube Game Boy Player at the end of May means that the GameCube already has three published Metroid titles: Metroid II for Game Boy, Metroid Prime for GameCube, and Metroid Fusion for Game Boy Advance.

Ok, if you want to get REALLY technical, you can throw in the original Metroid into that... making it a four? How does the original Metroid fit in? It's a bonus in Metroid Prime -- if you complete it and link to Fusion, it's unlocked.

Also, since it is a GameBoy player, it will also play Metroid II. So the list would be five!

But really... technicalities. I think the spirit of the original statement didn't mean it QUITE this way.

The third image is also very remiscent. Based on the "Zero Mission" name... I'm willing to bet that it's an Original Metroid re-make (what with Kraid and all). If so: cool.

  6. This is a travesty! on The Top 25 Squaresoft Games Ever? · · Score: 1

Rad Racer not in the top 25?? I mean, c'mon, it had full-on-3D. It was so ahead of it's time!

This list is obviously skewed towards RPGs, which is a shame as Square has a few quality non-RPG games. To have Einhander not listed is a scam (though they do mention it as a "hidden gem"); Bushido Blade should be rated higher; and where the hell is Tobal No.1 ?

Is it really selling that well? Or is it just your location (because you had it on demo)? Most of the EB's around here (Toronto area) initially ordered no more than five copies -- two or three which were ear-marked for employees. I don't know about you, but a "constant sales rise" above five copies still makes it a pretty damned niche title.

I know you're trying to be funny, and I guess stupid stereotypes can be funny, but Konami is as likely to create a cel shaded Solid Snake as Nintendo. Konami's ZOE2 is cel shaded.

I believe that The Sims passed Myst at around the 13 Million Unit mark for the, so called, "top selling game of all time" title. What is wrong with that? Well, whenever anyone reports the Sims as "best selling game of all time" -- they fail to mention "... for the PC".

I think that Super Mario 3 still has the crown for units sold: in excess of 17 Million.

GTA still has a waaaays to go.

The XBox live service is nice too. One fee, one login, all my games.

Not true. PSO will require an additional fee, and there's no guarantee that there won't be future games like that.

XBox's selling feature was that "Network enabled out of the box" -- and that was a load of bull. Sure, it had a built in ethernet port, but: you need to buy the live starter kit ($), and you need to subscribe to Live ($$), and then get the game ($$$). Frankly, I found PS2's network connectivity easier to set up; and far cheaper to run (all, or almost all, of the current net enabled games for the PS2 are FREE to play).

The reason it wasn't announced before is simple: Christmas money bonanza! If the public new of such a system being imminent, it might have hurt the GBA (if slightly) in holiday sales.

Besides, there were rumours of some "MEGATON" announcment floating around for the last month -- I guess this is it. There were rumours that it might be a new GBA, but I think that was all spculation (just like the "Nintendo suing Sony for the Playstation name" thing that Slashdot so gullibly fell for).
