Microsoft released this last year. Read the details here
As BSD is my other favorite OS (I tend to use XP for desktops and FreeBSD for servers), I'm glad to know that they've finally caught up with Microsoft in this important area.
Currently, on our OfficeOnline site, we are seeing over 30,000 searches per week for PDF support.
If this is how Microsoft makes feature set decisions, let's play a trick on them! Get a bunch of people to runs scripts that search Office Online for "Office for Amiga" and see if they come out with an Amiga version!
*NEVER* did I say that "Linux" is as good as Solaris. Linux is a piece of crap. But frankly, except for a few specialized applications, like hosting Oracle, 99% of the work I do is on Windows XP and FreeBSD. (Linux is just hype, like MacOS. Nothing really substantial or useful.)
But just because Sun has the best enterprise Unix, doesn't mean that the company as a whole isn't a relic! They're still pushing Java!
About 20 years ago, I thought Sun workstations with their dual 68000 CPUs and SunOS operating system was leading edge! Now the whole company's a relic.
This site is one of those annoying sites where random words thoughout the pages are higlighted and link to some sponsor. Nothing is more annoying!
I also can't imagine that any of the clicks the advertisers get are legit. It's probably mostly accidental clicks as people are navigating around.
Of course, the best thing would be to encourage people to make their sites a little more user-friendly with more than a few words of text on each page. But barring that, some form of ad blocker that finds and kills these things would be a good idea. Maybe someone can write one for Firefox and Internet Explorer?
give him more time to focus on important things instead of video games?
Absolutely! And one of the other reasons I prefer Windows is that there are some great development tools available. All your favorite GNU stuff, plus Microsoft Visual Studio.NET which is the best IDE I've ever seen/used. Even though I've been a Mac developer in the past, it's obvious to me that Microsoft cares more about third-party developers.
So for a platform to learn computer programming on, Windows with Visual Studio.NET 2005 is my first choice.
If I got my kid a Mac Mini instead of some AMD box with an NVIDIA card, the kids in school would call him lame and beat him up! And he wouldn't be able to play any games.
I once got into a shoving match (no kidding!) with the W3C folks over Amaya! I was working for a Big Software Company and they asked why don't we test our HTML generation with Amaya. I said "Because nobody uses Amaya" and they got very, very, very mad.
You have to turn your iPod off during takeoff and landing in case they need to give you EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS. The don't want you to be blasting L'il Kim or 50-cent into your head while they may be giving out very important information to the passengers (like for the Jet Blue flight yesterday, where passengers had to move to the rear of the plane to take weight off the front ent...)
I can't believe you didn't link to the official Dell Ditty site! They show how cool you'll be with your Dell Ditty! And there's a dance instructor in Flash to teach you the latest Hip-Hop moves!
Let's assume 8 hour days. That's $125/hour which would be a BARGAIN for a experienced software developer (C++/Device Driver/OS Internals type) here in Silicon valley. And anyone who had the skills to get an emulator into shape is probably already gainfully employed--so it wouldn't be worth his while to take a pay cut to prove a point.
Anyone who says this has been duped by some silly webpage or blog they read and doesn't have a true understanding of the situation.
Seriously, storing the PGP file in a bunch of places around the world is probably the best bet.
Actually, they both were probably influenced by Intel which has had hardware support for this (in some form or another) since the 80386.
Don't worry! Microsoft will buy AOL so they'll win no matter what the customers choose.

...on October 1, 2006, to celebrate its 20,000,001st birthday party!
Mine's *much* too loud! And I ordered the acoustic dampening, too.. Anyway, they lost credibility by putting OS-X on the list.

Wow! I loaded up that hosts file from mvps.org and now that xyzcompyting.com site looks 100% better!
Volume!

Finally, I can use Amaya the only truly compliant browser to view /.! (Since Amaya is made by the W3C, it is, by definition, the standard.)

In other news, DJ Ditty has been arrested for being in a 4-way shootout with Lil' Kim, Monzy, and MC Plus+
You're getting a Ditty!

They need to offer $100K to get any takers.
This guy deserves *some* Karma for not being hit by the "too few charcters per line" lameness filter!
