What about making a real professional job using a [Postgre|My]SQL database instead and a web server? Instead of something that will just break by itself with time?
You all seem to make the same fundamental misconception: Linux is _not_ an OS, it's just a kernel, nothing more, nothing less. It does not control how your applications behave, but just provides a means to control your hardware. GNU is more of an OS.
MS has the right to use, modify, and sell every bit of BSD code. I just wanted to point at something that had happened and is allowed, and doesn't make BSD developpers into fury.
Of course GPL license wouldn't permit this.
It was just a reply from former thread.
I'd like to know how a law could be enforced if it's adoption has clearly been done illegally. A law illegally adopted is illegal for me, so unenforceable, altough IANAL.
LOL, it's easy for MS to get OpenBSD code and compile it to run on windows to make some interoperability with unix systems.
It's ways harder to interoperate with closed proprietary standards, such as those made by MS. But OpenSource succeeds in this fairly well.
Look at how MS claims windows run kerberos authentication.. It does not, they just took the name of an open standard, modded it enough to render it useless and poorly implemented it. Is that interoperability?
What is really funny with windows is that the "new" feature from windows XP and 2003 is automatic registry recovery... So your antivirus can just wipe out the virus with all its keys, and it will luckyly just reinstall itself on next reboot, so you've lost no data.. Really a useful feature.
Indeed.. The biggest prerequisite is java.. I certainly wouldn't install this on my server as long as it requires java.. One more point: You seem to be required to get a non-GPL/BSD licence for it. So many people won't like this too. But, well, java isn't free either..
Here is the answer from Gandi:
This is the response to your request received on 11 November 2004:
Here is the original ICANN text:
http://www.icann.org/transfers/policy-12jul04.htm
It is planned to set up a lock/unlock option on our website (panel of the administrative contact), but for the moment this tool is not ready at Gandi.
I sent a mail to gandi about this subject. Saying clearly that their failure to provide this kind of mechanism will cause all my domains to be transfered to another registrar which provides this feature.
Well, my company car is actually a lancia lybra... I now understand why the radio and inboard computer crash when I block the engine... This is no joke and seems reproductible on all lybra's...
But I now know that if I choose another Lancia in a near future, I could expect engine to crash when changing radio station:D
Yes, I used atari from it's beginning.. I always disliked windows, which is user unfriendly and very buggy and unstable. At one time, I was kind of forced to use windows, cos linux was so primitive, and atari was a little bit underpowered for the time. So at about P1 133, I began using windows, without liking it much at all. When I saw there was an alternative that was customisable and useable graphically, I began to love linux.. Now I adhere to opensource philosophy. I must admit I used windows for 4 years or so, this was about the period I was nearly away from computing because I had not much interest in it. Now I use Linux and OpenBSD, and I have regained interest in computing as I am now working in IT...
Do you intend that Excel is portable??? I don't think so.

This was my first troll post on slashdot

How do you think MS services for Unix has been created? It's just a complete OpenBSD ripoff.

Does this means more pics like these:
Runtime error
Bluescreen
My post was mainly intended to be cynical ;), but, yes, there is a free portable flashplayer. It won't however run all your latest flash stuff.
http://gplflash.sourceforge.net/
Are you using the closed source macromedia flash player? or the opensource one?

Now I want to go to the internet... Do I have to buy that new gizmo that reads eIDs and carry it with me???

How can you trust MS for a spyware removal tool when they bundle spyware with a fresh install.
Did Bill Gates actually wrote software?

How could you say Internet Explorer is free..... It is not at all.. You must purchase Windows in order to install Internet Explorer as far as I know.

Microsoft has not patented the wheel..
Got no problem there... I worked fine from the first time...

Where is Richard Stallman???
This is due to the fact you are probably still using /dev/psaux instead of /dev/input/mice.
Does this means that when you click a mailto:someone@somesite.ext you get an error??
