A few weeks ago I got called in by a client to talk to a 3rd party vendor of theirs regarding some problems they were having. Turns out the 3rd party vendor was Oracle. interestingly enough Oracle was providing a .Net solution running on Oracle DB to our mutual client. I was a bit shocked. Turns out Oracle does a lot of .Net development. So given Oracle and MS mutual business interests I have no doubt .Net working with Oracle DB is a priority.

Honestly I think IQ scores are ridiculous.

I do have a much higher than average IQ (170+) which is overly inflated due to having a near eidetic memory which inflates my score quite a bit.

So lets look at what this does for me.

    I am good at puzzles.
I am good at solving problems.
I can grasp concepts far quicker than your average person.
    That's about it.

    How does this hurt me.

    I get lazy.
    I get bored easily.
I am very apathetic to learning through traditional means.

Does that make me smart? Not really I know people with far lower IQ scores who I consider far more intelligent then myself.

I look at it like this a high IQ means you have a fast processor. That's it if you have nothing on your hard-drive(knowledge) and no programs(formulas) then what good does it do you.

I have to say not much.

So when it comes down to it IQ is just something morons brag about, Otherwise, its useless if you don't do anything with it.

You can also note that my grammar sucks and my spelling is atrocious. However, I can solve a Sudoku like no body's business.

Hollywood always goes through a series of certain types of movies coming out in bunches. If one can produce a hit movie in one genre then everyone wants a piece of that fan base and they start producing films in the same genre. They did it with Westerns, Cop Dramas, Gang Films, Mob Films, etc... Now they seem to be doing comic book based films.

Being a huge fan of comic books myself I find this great. I don't particularly like the adaptations they seem to be doing, but that in no way means they shouldn't be making these films.

You might as well say your tired of Porn films I mean come on are you not tired of these films? There is only so many times I can see the pool-man, delivery driver, professor, and neighbour etc... get it on with some porn starlet. I mean seriously how are you supposed to believe Randy spears is a delivery driver?

Yet I digress Hollywood sees a market for somethign so they make it. Currently it happens to be comic book movies and successful children's book series. Who knows what it will be in 2-3 years. And if you do know, you could make a lot of money.

Do you truly believe that Joomla Drupal or Wordpress Templates are generally accessible? Seriously?

I build Accessible websites for a living and I am telling you flat out it is a lot more difficult to validate and have good accessible design. Almost all Templates you will find use tables even those that do not still the CMS's and modules generally put out bad or table formated output. Traveling down this path is a very bad way to go.

This can be a very daunting task. But you can do it.

Start by picking a DocType that works for you. then produce all the content you want in valid html format. identify different sections and enclose them in Div's assign classes to like content and assign ID's to sections that will not be repeated.

Once you have the content displaying in the way that makes sense in markup. You can begin to style it either pick an existing templeting system or create your via includes. Now this is where things get a bit more difficult you need to determine how you want the content to display.

From this point on you can begin to do design your website accordingly. Remember Javascript is not completely bad but any nice helpful things you do with javascript should have corresponding non javascript ways of doing things. Like adding buttons in noscript tags for onchange events. Also adding targets to window popups and be sure to add onkeypress="this.click()" to all links as well. You can modify css via javascript to make things display and not display but remember to set the defaults via javascript at the point of window.onload this way with no javascript the user will still see the content that you wish them to see just not in the fashion that might not be optimal.

Two other quick tips to remember: Do not specify a size of your website via pixel it should be done via em or percentages. Take into account that the user can and will change the default size of their font's you must account for this.

The public has the right to use whatever OS they want. Google could tomorrow create an OS based of a BSD or the Linux Kernel that is their right. So would Microsoft be able to dictate how and what they do with there Distro. No they wouldn't and they shouldn't be able to.

This just seems like another Whiner complaining because Microsoft makes a competing product and bundles it. How Stupid is that I am sure the computer manufacturers can and will change that functionality at will to do whatever they want however they want. There is one problem with you argument when you pay apple to run OSX you do not own a copy of it they grant you the right to use it according to their rules. you never own the software. It is carefully worded that way. You do not purchase a copy of OSX you pay for the right to use it. Kind of like an indefinite lease however they can revoke your license if you misuse it.

The software (including Boot ROM code), documentation and any fonts accompanying this License whether on disk, in read only memory, on any other media or in any other form (collectively the "Apple Software") are licensed, not sold, to you by Apple Computer, Inc. The terms of this License will govern any software upgrades provided by Apple that replace and/or supplement the original Apple Software product, unless such upgrade is accompanied by a separate license in which case the terms of that license will govern.

In other words you own the CD's/hard drive/DVD but you do not own what is on it. This is standard practice by most software companies. Essentially a Music CD could specify you can only use this on Approved hardware. Any non approved CD hardware you use it on would be a violation. Which is Why James T. Russel is now very well off

Now when the user is approved the representative at Google who approved this site is responsible for a cursory check of the site to make sure the user is agree to these guidelines.

Google as an entity may not have been aware of this to begin with they may have lazy data entry people who get paid minimum wage that check things. This could cause things to slip trough the cracks. However being a responsible Advertiser means that you should make sure that these sites to not violate the policy by implementing a double or triple check policy or a screen and approve policy that only supervisors can approve. If this was in place then it could just have been a slip up by certain employees. Lots of things fall through the cracks especially a site as large as Google.

Sure it is, Is it worth it? I believe it is, So I do it. If however I don't do it and I screw something up on my system it is "My Fault" I realize this but not everyone does. If I blamed Debian for a package I installed myself that causes my System to Freeze(yes I have done this before) and X crashes who's fault is it and who gets blamed. People Blame Microsoft now most Blue Screen's of Death are caused by Third Party Software is this Microsoft's fault? No the software writer is responsible. Sure MS could do better protecting their operating system from these crashes, but when it comes down to it, The responsibility is the Software Developers. Yet they do not take the blame. I think MS should require certain things for any software installed on the system. Developer Either Company or Actual person who made the software and a contact address. Then they could display it anytime the software does somethign horrible. That way they can put the blame to the true source and save face a bit.
