It's a good thing you didn't cut out the rest of what it says....oh wait, you did and that actually changes the meaning of the snippet you posted. To continue where you left off: (i.e., the ability to exchange and make use of information). The section states:
(f) Reverse Engineering.—
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a)(1)(A), a person who has lawfully obtained the right to use a copy of a computer program may circumvent a technological measure that effectively controls access to a particular portion of that program for the sole purpose of identifying and analyzing those elements of the program that are necessary to achieve interoperability of an independently created computer program with other programs, and that have not previously been readily available to the person engaging in the circumvention, to the extent any such acts of identification and analysis do not constitute infringement under this title.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsections (a)(2) and (b), a person may develop and employ technological means to circumvent a technological measure, or to circumvent protection afforded by a technological measure, in order to enable the identification and analysis under paragraph (1), or for the purpose of enabling interoperability of an independently created computer program with other programs, if such means are necessary to achieve such interoperability, to the extent that doing so does not constitute infringement under this title.
(3) The information acquired through the acts permitted under paragraph (1), and the means permitted under paragraph (2), may be made available to others if the person referred to in paragraph (1) or (2), as the case may be, provides such information or means solely for the purpose of enabling interoperability of an independently created computer program with other programs, and to the extent that doing so does not constitute infringement under this title or violate applicable law other than this section.
(4) For purposes of this subsection, the term interoperability means the ability of computer programs to exchange information, and of such programs mutually to use the information which has been exchanged.
I thought linux users were supposed to be able to just read the code, figure out what was wrong and compile a fixed version themselves. I thought they wouldn't have had to wait for directions from skype on what to do.
Or was the problem trying to read Microsoft code and figure out where the noodles are all going?
We all know what happens then. First they get the information from profiles, then they get the money, then they get the power, then they get the Real Dolls.
A comment as completely out of place as that, having nothing to do with the article and filled with inaccurate/misleading info as the poster of this story, looks like something you keep saved on your computer just to paste when someone posts a comment defending Microsoft in some way.
I'm glad I left that state. I got stationed there for one year and it was a shitty year.
Remember that movie The Car? I was flipping through the channels one day over there and it was on and they also explained that it takes place in Utah, even though it was filmed somewhere else.
I cheered that car after every kill it made.
I like the part where you assume I don't know their culture. I guess marrying one of them and living over there doesn't count. Any more baseless assumptions you want to throw out?
Considering this info came out when Bush was president, if anyone was going to do something to alter an election, it would have been him trying to keep Obama from winning.
I like how there's more outrage over apple tracking users and then denying it than there is over all the suicides and anti-suicide pledges from the workers making these devices.
This sort of thing happens at nearly every college but not necessarily by major. Any special program for selected groups of students, such as something for veterans, that allows them to pay a different tuition rate, is differential tuition. Doing it by major is less common but it also works out in some cases where they're paying less than standard rates because the department wants their programs to be more competitive, tuition-wise.
I didn't buy an iphone, so no, I didn't read the ELUA for it.
For everyone defending apple on this issue, or non-issue depending on your view, ask yourself what you'd be saying if it was Microsoft that had this incident happen to. This is pretending that their new phones were popular enough for someone to discover;)
At least with a working 360, you can play all your games and content, online or offline. What retard would've designed a console where you wouldn't be able to play a single player game offline? I guess that retard's name is Sony.
If you read the article, it's also citing patents it holds on design
"Apple cites patents issued in 2009 and 2010 that cover the physical design of the iPhone along with various trademarks for its app icons."
There was a comment in the cloud article that Apple doesn't do this sort of thing. I found it amusing reading that comment and then this article in the same day.
someone makes a post about how the way apple is doing it is slightly different than the other browsers and so instead of just following the trend and playing catch up, they're somehow innovative?
No more will they have to spend time in the basement, trying to create one using open source. Doing the AI for a girlfriend is just not something that a typical basement dweller can get to working in a human way.
Nobody said it was a new concept. Do you also post in apple threads when they release a new ipod/iphone stating that mp3 players or cell phones have already been released in the past?
If you're using anything other than binary, don't call yourself a developer, you are a code monkey.
There's nothing wrong with using a framework. It's like the difference between someone using repetitive code and the next guy that makes a function for it. A framework, or function, isn't going to write the code for you but it will assist you in speeding it up.
If anyone's been following Google for the last few years, them doing something like this isn't anything new. There's still that large group of people in denial.
Saying people wouldn't go crazy over Microsoft doing this is absurd. Just look at any of the other Microsoft articles that get posted here.
As long as there's Apple users still in denial that this is an issue, it will continue to be one that will only get worse and worse.

I think it's more of everyone seeing how unsecure Sony is, so they're all trying to get into all the other unsecure systems.
It's always easy to blame Microsoft for something, whether or not they have anything to do with it. Same with opposing political parties :)

Cool beans. It's been a long, hot, awful day over here.

Then what's the point in storing that log on a computer? Why should it ever need to leave the phone?

A server run by someone outside of the IT department has nothing to do with HIPAA.

I'd also include ME users as well.
