The ground loop is what makes the alternator whine apparent. A ground loop acts like an antenna and picks up this noise. Grounding in automotive applications often suffers from this as there can be large voltage drops between the (-) post on the battery and various points on the chassis. At 12V, there is a lot of current running throughout the vehicles electical system, and thus larger voltage drops. I have run into this problem many times when installing stereo equipment. Every time, the solution involved relocating the headunit or the amp ground to a better spot, or even co-locating them.
Would the purchase of this void any Robot Insurance policies? Remember, they need old people's pills for energy and once they got you, your done, because they're strong, and made of metal.
(e.g. a light inside a water faucet that lights the water according to its temperature).
I don't know if this is your idea or if you got it somewhere. If it's an original, you need to patent that shit now. That is a novel, useful, and non-obvious thingy you got there! Something that actually does deserve patent protection.
I wrote that comment with those assumptions in mind. You see, the boss is always accurate about the time you arrive at work, to within the operational limits of his time measurement device. Now he can state with even more precision what time you arrived to work. His assesment that you were 34 min 38.4359 sec late was accurate, though his precision was limited to that 4th decimal. Now he can know that you were 34 min 38.4359265 sec late.
Oh wait... Nevermind. I see now. The new clock is more accurate. It doesn't have a higher resolution (or if it does, that's not what the parent was referring to), it just drifts 1/1000 less. Okay, you're right. The new clock is more accurate.
Umm... He could unplug it?. The same dangers await the rangemaster at the shooting range. In fact, it is easier here to ensure the saftey of onsite humans as all they need to do is unload the rifle. C'mon, it's not that hard, folks.
Don't misunderstand me, this idea disturbs me somewhat, but I don't feel the need to trump up safety issues to make an argument against it.
This is so timely for me its scary. I got YHF off P2P and ended up buying it solely because of that. I can gaurantee you that had it not been for that download, I would not have bought that album. Oh, and the only reason I heard about it was because of a lawsuit from some guy who made the original recording of the "Yankee. Hotel. Foxtrot" voiceover in the song Poor Places.
and there is an unofficial rumor of video services as well by the end of this year.
I have been working on the backhaul connections in my area for this for a while now. Each CO is starting with a pair of OC3s to link back the the data center. Video is most definitely going to be piped to the prems on these same fibers at a different wavelength (I think 1490 nm). Wether this happens by the end of the year remains to be seen, but it will happen.
Power Consumption & Heat: Just as with desktop drives, 2.5" laptop drives can generate considerable heat. It's harder, however, to get rid of heat from cramped laptop interiors than from desktops, and laptops may, errmmmm, generate certain heat related issues that would be a problem with a desktop under only the most contrived and embarrassing circumstances...if you know what I mean.;-)
Actually, I have no idea what you mean. Seriously. I don't get it. Umm... What do you mean?
I know this is OT, but this seems to be an appropriate place to air this rant:
Since when did "automagically" become a wholesale substitute for "automatically"??? Most of the people here usually complain about buzzwords and their overuse, but this one seems to fly... hmmm. That's it. Oh, and RFID sucks.:-)
If a serial comes up in the same place more than once, then it is fake and disabled.
I would hate to be the person whose real money was "disabled" because I was unfortunate to have a serial number that was chosen at random by a counterfeiter.
That was under artificially contaminated conditions. Earlier in that article, the student mentioned with suprise that even high-traffic areas were fairly germ-free. In practice, this validates the 5 second rule for me. Just don't forget to blow it off to really make sure it's clean!

Switzerland
You can still use VoIP with that.
Yup. You could live in a country that denies you the right to defend yourself by owning a gun. That would be worse.

I'm gonna assume that your boss was pretty accurate before, but now he will be so very precise!

I'd change it to Your solution makes much more sense.

Are you trying to ./ this guy??? He says he don't have time to read, and you write a novel for him.

*I* get tired of people getting all pissed because of this.
Yeah, thanks for largely ignoring the other 6 billion on the planet.
No problem.
Nevermind. I gues I make stupid mistakes too...
1600/1800000 = .009% Where'd you get 18,000 from?
Nope, it's going to be 1490 at the local loop side. That's what all the splitters are labeled as.
Now when they get that POF* thing going, then we'll be in business!!
*POF Power Over Fiber. Shield your eyes!

In fact they should make radio TX free, not hand guns.
Why not both? And don't you mean we should make them free?

AmigaOS 3.0??? Why such a fancy one? Real Amiga fans stuck with AmigaDOS (with Workbench 1.3). It had 3D icons with animation.
