So this is what it's come to? I'm stuck voting for the people who lie, cheat, and steal their way to the top, or people who lie, cheat, and steal to make the others look bad. Meh...
Since it appears that these large companies are afraid everyone will pass along their public data to their friends / partners / some dude in China, why not just stop putting out public data? No one can steal your data if you don't have any data, now can they?

My only real problem with Nuke Anything is that it's only temporary - reload the page, and any ads / annoying colors / et cetera return. Of course, this is good in case you kill something you didn't mean to - perhaps the extension needs a few enhancements: An undo option (I haven't used it in awhile, so it may already exist), a "Save Configuration" option, a and of course, just in case, a "Remove Configuration". Mind you, considering how much some pages change, the functionality of this might be a bit limited - perhaps introduce element ID wildcard blocking?
The Armchair Warrior is just a metaphor. As much as people don't like to admit it, war is not a socialist event - lives are depending upon many of these "Armchair Warriors", and to think that just because they aren't out on the field, that they serve no purpose, is a bit contrived.
Of course, I know what you really mean - people lacking in military knowledge, leading an military. This is more of an unfortunate incident than a common practice. I hope.
I'm an Independent-by-nature, but I have to say the parent comment is bull. Rarely, if ever, do I see liberal protesters, college professors, et cetera, going into wars. The people who go into wars usually are, sadly enough, conservatives. Don't believe me? Take a look at the service records of the Democratic members of Congress compared to the Republicans, and then tell me about the Conservative Cowards. I'm not saying I'm agreeing with them, but if you're going to attack them, attack them on an issue that actually might make a difference.
I think the winner will be the one who comes up with a new technology in handhelds actually worth noting - I, for one, would love to see massive multiplayer handheld combat over a small area in your neighborhood / town - but it's probably just going to be rehashes of old games, since all the new ideas are in the, well, newer fields.
It's not that we hate television ads - the Superbowl proves this every year - but we get sick of seeing the same stupid, concept-less product and advertisement. Give us ads worth watching, and I assure you TiVo sales will drop off a bit.
It seems to have just fallen into a middle-market that doesn't exist anymore. I mean, anymore, either documents are handled completely digitally, or just scanned and translated into PDFs or the like. There just doesn't seem to be a need, at least a large enough one to merit attention.
That's right. I forgot that the OS community was now down to scare tactics. Why don't we focus on making a better product, than trying to convince people to switch, for fear of having their machines destroyed by a 14-year-old with an overbite?

Sure, AOL sucks. But the target range here isn't the Linux geek with the 3MB/Sec connection. Like it was stated in the article, the target consists of A) retirees, but B) mostly minority and minimum-wage groups. In this case, they'll be happy just to have a connection - since they'll be paying for it anyway (if it didn't ship with AOL for a year, they'd still have to get a connection somehow), this really is a good deal for them.

I live in South Carolina, and one of the spectacles that I have to deal with every year is that of the NAACP protesting at the state border. What they protest about anymore, not many people are really sure of, since the flag they were protesting is down and out anymore. Anyway, my point is this - why has no one complained yet about having companies take advantage of this "low income, minority" range? I mean, I don't mean targeting certain groups is bad (although it does continue on annoying stereotypes and such), but I just have this funny feeling like this is going to turn out to be utter bullshit, and will end up making a lot of people look like a lot of fools. Well, at least that's my two cents.
It's always very interesting to see these little Open-Source quirks pop-up - I mean, it's obvious the guy is going to have his ass handed to him by Apple, so why bother? It feels like there's some kind of "Greater Good" vibe that goes through, and makes people willing to do foolish things for the OS community. Like a martyr of open-source technology, in a sense. People sacking themselves in the name of Linus. In other news, we're about one week away from suicide bombings on the Redmond HQ by Linux totalists.
Human: What is your cup size?
ALICE: My memory requirement is around 64MB for the Java edition, or only 2 MB for the C/C++ edition.

I hear Canada is nice this time of year...
It's an interesting concept, but I honestly question some of the image results. For example, Test returns:
$ A punching bag dummy
$ A Hindu woman dancing
$ A Home Pregnancy Test
$ This
Weird.

Why are all posts pointing out that this is a dupe getting modded flamebait?
Isn't this a dupe? Just need to find the link...

If we have the technology to read signatures, why not just make a device to write signatures? Surely it can't be that hard?
I don't know. It has a sort of crude Darwinian charm to it. Survival of the Wittiest.
Yes, as you know, technology limits proxy servers to only using port 80. We can put a man on the moon, but we can't open ports 1-79.
Proxy Server.
Doesn't Mozilla have some sort of functionality with this? XUL and all of that? Why don't we see more apps posted like that?
