  6. Re:Nuke Anything on Exploring Firefox Extensions · · Score: 1

My only real problem with Nuke Anything is that it's only temporary - reload the page, and any ads / annoying colors / et cetera return. Of course, this is good in case you kill something you didn't mean to - perhaps the extension needs a few enhancements: An undo option (I haven't used it in awhile, so it may already exist), a "Save Configuration" option, a and of course, just in case, a "Remove Configuration". Mind you, considering how much some pages change, the functionality of this might be a bit limited - perhaps introduce element ID wildcard blocking?

The Armchair Warrior is just a metaphor. As much as people don't like to admit it, war is not a socialist event - lives are depending upon many of these "Armchair Warriors", and to think that just because they aren't out on the field, that they serve no purpose, is a bit contrived.

Of course, I know what you really mean - people lacking in military knowledge, leading an military. This is more of an unfortunate incident than a common practice. I hope.

I'm an Independent-by-nature, but I have to say the parent comment is bull. Rarely, if ever, do I see liberal protesters, college professors, et cetera, going into wars. The people who go into wars usually are, sadly enough, conservatives. Don't believe me? Take a look at the service records of the Democratic members of Congress compared to the Republicans, and then tell me about the Conservative Cowards. I'm not saying I'm agreeing with them, but if you're going to attack them, attack them on an issue that actually might make a difference.

I think the winner will be the one who comes up with a new technology in handhelds actually worth noting - I, for one, would love to see massive multiplayer handheld combat over a small area in your neighborhood / town - but it's probably just going to be rehashes of old games, since all the new ideas are in the, well, newer fields.

Sure, AOL sucks. But the target range here isn't the Linux geek with the 3MB/Sec connection. Like it was stated in the article, the target consists of A) retirees, but B) mostly minority and minimum-wage groups. In this case, they'll be happy just to have a connection - since they'll be paying for it anyway (if it didn't ship with AOL for a year, they'd still have to get a connection somehow), this really is a good deal for them.

What they protest about anymore, not many people are really sure of, since the flag they were protesting is down and out anymore. Anyway, my point is this - why has no one complained yet about having companies take advantage of this "low income, minority" range? I mean, I don't mean targeting certain groups is bad (although it does continue on annoying stereotypes and such), but I just have this funny feeling like this is going to turn out to be utter bullshit, and will end up making a lot of people look like a lot of fools. Well, at least that's my two cents.
