We ended up donating our cord blood (it was free to do so). It's unlikely that we will need it, but it's very likely that SOMEONE will. Or even just for research. If you don't want to spend the money, you can still ensure it goes to something good.
Why not run the full desktop, though? Hell, I used to run Litestep since Explorer kept crashing on me and wouldn't let me do what I wanted. KDE has to be better than Explorer... why not use it as the desktop on Windows, especially if you want to play games or use other apps that are Windows-only?
I googled my name, and I was only on one listing, and that was just a page at a company I used to work at. Very little personally identifiable. The rest are all for lots of other people sharing my name... sometimes it's good to be common;)
Still just as vulnerable to fire. RAID is not a backup system... it's simply a single-site reliability system. If you want your data safe, you copy it to another drive/array/whatever, and keep that safe and separate from the "original", also known as "backing up".
So basically, it IS the people in Africa that is the problem.
Just because it's large scale doesn't make it any less tribalism. And then you get things like a damn goat being arrested in Nigeria.
I know a lot of it is because of things outside their control, but Africans by and large don't seem to want to change their situation, they seem to just want to be the next tribe in power. And that's not helping anyone.
Linux still runs faster, but systems are so fast that OS overhead is negligible (unless you count Vista), and 2000 and XP really did make large strides in Windows stability. I still wouldn't use them on a server since they require a reboot to update, but they're decent for desktops as long as you don't mind IE, viruses and DRM.
But then again, you're probably just a Windows shill, or a troll. Or both.
I would love them to stop pushing analog channels. My PCHD-3000 keeps getting upset when changing between digital and analog, and it'd be nice to just have one (digital, because OTA free HD is required to be re-broadcast in the clear on cable, so if you have cable, you have the same HD service or better than what you can get OTA)
The problem is that Windows 7 still doesn't get rid of DRM, which means if you install it you're telling Microsoft that you're ok with them having more control over your computer than you do. And since I'm not OK with that, the best Windows will ever do on my machine is run in a nice little sandboxed virtual machine.
I know I got one. I considered some of the earlier sets, but they seemed to do stupid things like not including the Dead Parrot sketch. Once I found the complete set, I asked for it for Christmas;)
Anything with an Intel 915 graphics chip is incapable of using all the features of Vista. Nothing to do with the CPU, everything about the graphical capabilities.
Microsoft never advertised Aero, though. They advertised Windows Vista, and showed how pretty it looked. The vast majority of consumers barely know there are different versions of Vista, much less the differences between them, and if something has a sticker saying it'll run Vista, then it should be able to run what is advertised as Vista.
Going with your example, Crysis will run as a full game with all the features on any system with at least the minimum specs. You get to play every level, every enemy, nothing is left out. That is not what happened with Vista... you can't run all of the Vista content with a "Vista Capable" PC, even slowed down. It's just impossible. And that's the issue.
No. Her goal is not to prevent cheating. Her goal is to make it easier for her to not do any work, and use the same tests and quizzes and everything year after year. She's lazy as hell.
What is this "bloat" that you speak of with KDE? Really, I'm curious to see what you count as bloat. KDE runs quickly for me, even in a VM. I look at/usr/lib/kde4 and it's 49M, and/usr/share/kde4 is 46M. It's really not that big on disk, and it's running in about 350MB of RAM without any apps going.
Have you ever considered just actually using Linux? That machine's so underpowered that it can't play games, which is the only thing that Windows really has over Linux any more. That, or if you need to run MS Office for professional reasons, but if you're pirating the OS I'd hope you're not doing that.
My mom was that way, at least until she discovered digital cameras and such. Downloading a 10MB email from my aunt (who can't figure out how to resize her pictures) takes forever on dialup. It's actually almost manageable on broadband.

Jeez... watch the show. It's awesome
Besides, without a brain you can float further with glass embedded in you to pop a static-electricity filled balloon that's threatening the city.

If his gay lover is anything like IE, I'd certainly hope so. No one should be exposed to that kind of depravity.

And I haven't been run over by a car since I started slashing all the tires on the cars on my street. It must be working!
Wait... the way settings are stored? In user profiles? How is that not MORE helpful for centralized operations?
Besides, patch and update? Just replace the damn executable. It's not hard.

Unfortunately, everyone here has shit all over him
(if you don't get it, watch the movie. It's not a troll)

It's only zero cost if you're Microsoft. Everyone else has to pay up front.
5. Such a nice shiny car. Too bad the turn signal is broken.
6. They must let just anyone have a license
I'm tapped.
