I enjoyed GT3 and I plan on buying GT4 when it comes out. For me, it's really down to eye candy. Sure I like passing cars and winning races, especially the Rally ones. But for me what keeps me coming back for more is the amazing graphics. The reflection of clouds and trees on an Aston Martin or the glare of the sun off a windshield. The graphics are what keep me interested after I've bought the cars, etc.

All I have to say is I just got TiVo for Christmas and I love it. I'm paying month by month just to try it out, but plan to do a lifetime subscription around March if I'm still using it (which I'm sure I will). It's great fun and I love that I can now watch all the stuff I usually mis due to being asleep like Adult Swim on Cartoon Network or Bob Vila at 5am.
I think what will be telling is how TiVo's Christmas was. Their financial year ends Jan 31, so then the truth will be known. Looking at their financials however, they are brining it over 10 million a month from subscription related activities, so that can't be all bad.
Also, who has time to putz around making their own DVR when you can go out and buy TiVo and you're done. I have mine hooked up to my wireless network and it's great that I can share music and pictures from my desktop to it. Also, the front lights up. That's just plain cool. Who wants to have some beige box they built themselves next to their stereo. Plus I agree with others I don't think the GUI of TiVo can be beat.

With the Bush administration being around for the next four years spending more while reducing taxes you'll see that next year there will be parity between the Candian Dollar and the US Dollar. You're already seeing record highs of the Euro against the US dollar. Look at the price of gold which is set to the US dollar. For it to hold it's value internationally, the price has gone up well over $400 an ounce.
I know someone who's high up in the Bank of Montreal and they're expecting 1:1 with their dollar and the US sometime next year.
The only real question is when will Canadians start trying to buy iTunes from the US?
To me you'd think any book that's 2000+ years old could be updated with modern editions and used, but only in religion is this frowned upon. Can you imagine using a history book or a science book from 2,000 years ago? It'd be horribly out of date and this is pretty much how I view the bible. I think there's some good stuff in there, and from a historical standpoint required reading, but to base your life, ethics, and laws on something 2,000 years ago without any major revision seems downright silly. Heck, I can't even use the same history or science textbook from last year, since there are constant revisions, corrections and additions. What if something was inaccurate in the bible? Who's going to stand up and say "you know what, this first part doesn't jive with this second part". Let's change it for a more consistent vision of our God, and his love, etc.
I live in Lynchburg, VA home of the Jerry Falwell and his University and it's sad. Everyone is closed minded, elitist, and prefers the hellfire and damnation interpretations and messages to the polar opposites later on. They try to "scare" people into Christianity which to me can't be the right way of converting individuals to your faith. It's funny to see Baptists running around doing things Catholics did 1,000 years ago in trying to convert people.
Oh well, slight rant, but this has been a topic in my mind since the cover article in Wired last month. I think this whole not teaching evolution in our school and now showing it in the same light as Intelligent Design is taking steps back in our knowledge of the universe and how it works back to before Darwin. I honestly think some of these fundamentalist would be happier if we went to a church-state and gave up our freedoms of speech.
It's funny this topic came up today, I just read my Wired magazine last night in bed and really enjoyed the article about the new anime coming out this year. I'm especially excited about Steam Boy.
As someone who's seen most of the major Anime films, I would have to put my vote for story with Lensman, overall narative with Spirited Away, and animation wise I'd go with Final Fantasy (it really is a good movie, though I think they should of made it fantasy based instead of sci-fi based, but oh well).
With Spirited Away, the animation is above average and I thought the character development was stellar. The other movies mentioned, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, and Ghost in the Shell are all good in their genre, but I think they're so focused that they loose a lot of the audience in their own importance.
For best bizarre movie with funky music my vote is for Light Years.
You bring up some great points. Occasionally, the smaller widescreen TV's will be more oriented towards the HDTV market so some of them will have HDTV tuners built in whereas most 4:3 screens won't. I personally prefer for my TV just to be a monitor and I'll provide the tuner.
For just the point you mentioned I bought the 40" Sony Wega 4:3. It's letterbox picture is the same as the 34" Sony widescreen. So when I watch HDTV on it (via Samsung T-351 tuner) it's the same picture, but then with regular TV the picture is huge. And the price... the same if not a little less than the 34" model.

At least with direct mail, if a marketer sends you something with a "Business Reply Mail" - Postage Will be Paid by Addressee, just follow these simple steps:
1.) Fill large brown box with phone books or old tires
2.) Tape Business Reply Mail postcard to box
3.) Mail at your nearest USPS post office!
4.) Voila! no more direct mail from that marketer!
I have a friend who's done this and when he gets Fax spam, he just sends a fax back to the individual saying please remove him from their mailing list and sends about 400 copies.
Whatever happened to the series. I remember playing Kings Quest V and thinking it was the best game ever, I remember it came on something like 9-12 big floppy disks. And then the franchise losts its graphics edge and looked more like a cartoon than a great adventure game.
Can you even find those around the Internet, I'd love to play it again...
I used to use PriceGrabber, but now I rely almost entirely on www.PriceScan.com, which I've used with good results and eBay. Any other sites with good deals on NEW electronics?
As someone who works for GE, I've heard a lot of talk about it, and if you check out our big "PR" site, www.imaginationatwork.com you'll see the marketing behind Lexan.
For specifics, including requesting a free sample of the SOLLX or to see a more detailed description and how SOLLX DIFFERS from regular LEXAN film - used on Saturns (we make that too), visit:
http://www.gestructuredproducts.com/sp1/gesp_amer/ industry/product.jsp?gradeCLID=2325
As someone who works for GE, I take offense to some of the points you tried to make. You obviously haven't looked at any GE electronics in your local BestBuy or Circuit City, because if you did you'd notice they're all made by RCA Thomson in a deal where we got their medical devices unit in France in exchange they got to use our name and logo on consumer electronics, of which we get also a commission.
About our engines, something near and dear to my heart since I work in Cincinnati and have toured the facility - you would be hard pressed to find a cleaner, more fuel efficient, and higher quality engine anywhere in the world. Our engines are used on the majority of Boeing and Airbus airplanes everyday, including every 747 on down the line. Most jetfights are also using out engine. The average fault in an engine is one defect for every 40,000 flights.
The last point I wish to bring up is you referring to a GE as "crooked". Have you read our annual report? Do you go to the share holder's meetings. I do. Please visit: http://www.ge.com/governance and than reply back with some facts on how GE is crooked.

And when is Lensman going to come out on DVD?
