Why this sudden change dx 10 has not even caught on in the hardcore gamers let alone even the above mainstream. Is MS going to make dx 10.2 or 11 radical to where devolpers have no options as well? If so I think its time to move back to OpenGL. No freedom for devlopers. And I want to be able to set my own AA levels.

While most of the people on slashdot will agree with you. And quite possiably others who are heavy into politics and keeping up with there goverment like they should. I think a big part of the problem is joe blow average doesnt keep up with what his/her goverment is doing for/to them. Untill people do the people in office will abuuse power the temptation is VERY hard to resisit. So if you want to change things like this talk with your neighbors and get people back into politics the people can make a change.

I still think that Mozilla/Firefox is the best solution on the market today. Yes they have made mistakes but what major project hasn't being foss or closed source. Don't forget the hype of how kernel 2.4 would be the last need for a major kernel release when it first came out by the community. And as far as the name change request I think its reasonable example if someone took wine and inject some of the famous leaked MS code into it so it would be a more compatible API. Then Microsoft sued wine for copyright infringement, we would lose wine from what one party thinks is a good idea against what another party thinks.

Maybe I am an amd Droid but the last i read the 4800+ and the 955 were almost identical in most benchmarks expcept those that intel always does well in (Specproof etc) and from the article the fx-60 does slightly better than the 4800+ which makes sense granted the fx is slightly faster so I would say AMD has a slight edge here but any who wants to spend 4 digits on cpu period INTEL or AMD??

Hi just to make a clear point about wal-mart sub contracting the used to do this at least. My company used to build sub quality pcchips systems (different owners) for wal-mart 100's a day untill wal-mart burnt us on like 100k dollars and almost put us out of buisness. We sold the system with no os for 499 back in 99 so we offered the lowest prices thats why they did it not because of a name or brand or anything.
