    The way I visualise galaxies are like a drain with the plug out.
    The universe has lots of holes.

    A traveller caught in one hole must work to escape its tide and fight against the current for some of the way.
    A boat travelling along the surface must actually travel a further distance to escape than actual relative distance covered.

    (the difference in distance travelled and work done gives the red shift).

    This appears to have been in the works for about 3 years.
    The current escalation from both sides (one starting a shop, the other actually making a movie) can only lead to one thing.

    This can lead to a global thermonuclear war.

    the only way to win is not to play at all.

    If I walk up to a policeman and tell him there is a drug dealer over there will I be arrested?

    Remember, a link takes you to a location - if a user can follow the link, so can the investigator.

    This is running on everything from brand new laptops to 64bit athlons and a whole swathe of variations in between.
    It just doesn't feel right on anything.

    Its not just vista.

    Every recent MS product has just felt *slow*.
    Its like outlook and office in general, the interface looks nice and logical, but it has lost its snappiness.
    Actions involving a full page refresh appear like a web page.
    Clicking between folders in Outlook leaves the old mail on screen briefly and things just aren't better.

    I was evaluating visual studio .net again this week and whilst it might technically do everything it needs to, its slower than VS 6 at most things.
    My colleagues think I should live on oldversion.com, but I just don't like the direction MS has taken.

    But aren't most processors now 64bit?
    Isn't it economically cheaper to get a 64bit chip even if you don't use a 64bit OS?

    I've noticed I play much less long level games since having the kids.
    I can grab my gaming in quick 5-10 minute sessions (tony hawk, nfs, unreal etc) and put it down as quickly.

    Slashdot is even a game, it is digested in small doses and after posting I can walk away and do whatever is needed.

    You still have about 2 weeks before your replacement arrives (assuming you are in USA/Canada - thats all the options on the site give)
    Unless you want to risk disaster you should consider looking for a replacement anyway.
    If you have an old camera or umbrella handy, most of the straps I see are similar to requirements, maybe yours could work as a temp replacement.
