    You mean you can see the Experimental threading indicators?
    Thats bad - it means the nano threading weaved into the webpage has escaped and made its way into your optic nerve.

    In reality I don't know and was wondering the same myself.

    The set top recorder unit uses RW disks which appears to be where the problem comes.
    I've never had any issues burning dvd data or movies onto write once media.

    Sometimes it can resync, sometimes it can't.
    We have had programs showing up lasting -96 hours (or similar unrealistic figures) which were completely unusable.

    Mind you, this seems no different to the experience I have had with dvd-rw's.

    Taping with the DVD recorder does not feel as "safe" as with VHS.
    We have a recorder here and often I wonder if the old model was better designed for the task.
    It was rare a tape just broke.
    Sure, it would get slowly grainy and you could basically get one final watch out of them.
    The DVDs suck because one error can fuck up the entire show.

    I hope NTL hurry up and bring out a PVR.

    Actually, I have uncapped 10mb service. The minimum 2mb service is still capped however.

    UK 10mb unlimited for £34.99 (1/2 price first 3 months).
    Thats with NTL, not sure if you are still required to get the other services or not (we do anyway).

    Its not bad and theres been talk this year of 100mb :D

    No, firefox ships with an automatically updating local database of phishing sites.
    You don't need to test every site with google, just use the built in one.

    I thought the aim of a phishing site was to circumvent the user?
    Its not specifically aimed to run a machine exploit (though some will involve overflowing the address bar), but to convince the user they are on a site they assume is safe.

    slashdot.com.au might get some folks others might be fooled by slashdot.info or some other variation (like the whitehouse.com former porn site).
    The attack vector is all in your head.

    I will post it here again for clarity:

    I noticed a problem before it was identified by the slashdot team.
    I posted about it a few times and discussed it with some folks.
    After I posted, the slashdot team put up this article explaining the situation and telling people about it.

    Whilst it may be fixed now it wasn't then.

    There is no FUD because it was fucking true.
