The data needn't be the phone locations itself. It could simply be an area map showing density and flow, kind of like a windspeed chart on a weather map.
Well Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf would be a bit surprised and I am sure he will have something to say about it.
Its news on slashdot because it deals with a global issue running through our lives at the moment. Its not specific geek news but its where geeks go to discuss things.
To resolve your angst, please follow these simple instructions:
1.Click the "Preferences" link at the top. 2.Goto the "Homepage" link. 3.Scroll down to "Customize Stories on the Homepage". 4.Select any sections and choose how to display each of them. 5.Profit.
Really, this time there is no bother - the system does what it needs to and you get to miss these fluff discussions.
The only exception being I use Autoruns from Sysinternals rather than MSConfig, its easier to do everything in a larger resizable frame than the tiny interface MS supply (and it doesn't ask you the stupid message after rebooting)
I like the low gravity maps in original Unreal Tournament. Its also similar to some of the maps and settings on Tony Hawks pro skater 2. Going back even further, I liked the 2nd track on Stunt Car Racer.
I guess Windows XP was advertised specifically for me.
Now, suppose I took the text of a popular book and pasted it wholesale into numerous comments or my journal, should slashdot be sued for it, or (as the DMCA provides) should slashdot comply with a reasonable takedown notice given by the copyright holder?
If universaltubes.com and universaltube.com and utube.com can coexist quite happily with all the name conflicts then why the hell should they be bothering about an increase in traffic from something which isn't even remotely treading on their shoes.
all 3 do the same job and have the same name, why isn't utube suing the others and vice versa?
There is no such thing as bad publicity

Utube Sues YouTube

I bet since youtube arrived their visitor numbers have increased, as the article says: The company, with just 17 employees, got 68 million hits on its site in August, making it one of the most popular manufacturing websites.
How many of those hits were proper customers? Can we have figures from before youtube arrived? how many turned into customers after they hit the wrong domain?
How can a company with such massive hit numbers draw so little in sales (especially since they are a real company):
Universal Tube, based in suburban Perrysburg and founded in 1985, has about $US12 million ($A15.5 million) in annual sales.
I have never heard of them before all this, and I can only think they are secretly loving it.
youtube should give them what they want and just pay them the $9.99 or whatever it is for a new domain and maybe a little towards a site refurb and watch as their visitor numbers and sales go down.
Hang on, I just checked something out - shouldn't they more correctly be suing universaltubes.com, they appear to have a closer name than youtube????
There is also universaltube.com doing a similar job.
Both companies do a similar job and at first glance cannot tell a different between them - this is more like passing off than anything, or are utube simply after the publicity....
Thats right, I have not got myself a laptop because I cannot afford one. The computers I have are bought out of necessity, an additional laptop at this point is not required.
I saw this when it was announced and tbh was put off by this:
"I will purchase the $100 laptop at $300 but only if 100,000 other will too."
I would gladly sign up for a $100 laptop if it cost $100. I realise everything about starting up and getting the ball rolling but I cannot waste an additional $200.
The spell checker is useless(at least in my English/United kingdom dictionary) it thinks Firefox is misspelt. It gives options for firebox and Fire fox.
This device does not have any storage inside. It is a simple tv card. The PVR like software controls the show and can output MP3 files for use in your actual mp3 player.
The Zen is an all in one device with a recordable radio channel. This needed a firmware update to restrict this right.
He has coasted around ruining companies and now sony think he is perfect to head up the PS3.
In his own words:
I don't know if I'm the smartest guy in the world, for jumping in two months before launch, or the dumbest guy in the world.

I am sorry, but I just don't believe this news until Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf tells it me himself.
For months I hung on his every word and was sure the American infidel invaders would not take Iraq.
(In reality, I welcome the verdict but not the sentence)

I agree with most of this.

The soundtrack really helped this game, and yer Venice Beach is amazing.
I'm going digging out my pad and finding the disk.

Send all text documents through a clever rot13 hack ;)
I like this way of thinking, even slashdot does it.

I said the exact same thing when XP came out.
I was happy with 2000.
You know, a few years down the line and I kinda like xp.
Security update for the OS != New version of Internet software

The extra traffic is a blessing.

Its that simple.
My youngest son knows how to spell 1 word at the moment, and do you know what that is?
His name.
The spell checker is useless(at least in my English/United kingdom dictionary) it thinks Firefox is misspelt.
It gives options for firebox and Fire fox.
Actually, there is.
I hope the mission goes smoothly and Hubble can continue.

I wonder if the guy got himself a tv yet?
Either that, or he was bludgeoned to death in a hallway.
If you drool anywhere near my quad-core Mac Pro* then you will receive a zidane special.

ok, ok its not from nethack (showing my amateurism)
I searched the text but found no mention of the obvious option:
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
