On the other hand I would like to understand how is it even possible to calculate the chances of life appearing in another spot of the galaxy, and the chances that such life becomes intelligent. Personally, I don't think they are as high as you seem to believe.
No intelligent life exists on earth so why should it exist anywhere else?
When you change the runlevel to 4 instead of 3 in inittab that should not affect how rc.inet1 is run.
I think something else is wrong with your setup, check/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf
I think the first problem is because of Xorg, since I upgraded to Xorg I can no longer use mplayer with -vo xv, something which worked fine with XFree86.
I get some error message that says:
The selected video_out device is incompatible with this codec.
You could always use X -configure to get Xorg to configure you X system for you.
(Also works with XFree86)
The only problem with Xorg is that it does not detect the monitor vertical refresh, which XFree does. (Just find the Monitor options in in/etc/X11/xorg.conf and change them to a valid value.)
I'll just buy r&c 3 on the 16th and play that instead
You should read the EULA which you gladly accepts.
And yes, you are a nerd. =)

It will probably be illegal under the DCMA to fake your browser identity.
The Nvidia drivers 4194(something 41 anyway). Made my system slower, so I'm back using 3123 instead.
Skateboards are banned, and has been for 30 years or so.
