Is his music supposed to typify music which displays a lot of these clashes/"beating" the Slashdot submission describes? He's certainly not mentioned in the abstract - which make sense because although his music lacks a delicious tonal centre I'm not aware of any attempt on his part to include this sort of issue in his music. Can someone with access to the paper (it doesn't appear to be free) confirm my suspicion that he's not mentioned in it?

We're arguing that windows 7 is not an `old os` and that its unrealistic to expect people who've bought a computer 2 months ago to now buy another one, or pay for an upgrade they don't want just to take advantage of a new graphics subsystem which would work perfectly well under Windows 7. If people voted with their feet and refused to buy windows 8 you'd see this backported before Christmas.
I only hope this spurs support for OpenGL (as used on every mobile device which supports 3d) and Linux.

Ubuntu was the first linux I used. Mint became the second, thanks to Unity. So in a sense it's bringing people together! I tried LXDE but that's been dropped now so I'm giving KDE a go and so far I think it's great.
> However most people now have moved onto the Unity interface
Most people have left Ubuntu for Mint and are using other front ends! Gnome, Mate, Cinnamon, KDE etc. Why the fuck would you want to use Unity. Even if they get all the crashes, bugs and inconsistencies out it's still dreadful. I know the argument is that it would work on a touch screen, but nobody uses Ubuntu on a touch screen so it doesn't matter.
I can't believe there's no Android app you can run on a Nexus7 or low/mid range phone. I'm not even going to look. If there isn't one, it sounds like an opportunity for someone.
Yep. I've seen taste tests where English 'sparkling wine' is confused with, and rated more highly than, Champagne. And white wine with red food colouring confused with 'fruity' red wine. It's very amusing.
Yeah, it's kind of funny that Nokia didn't want to be just another Android phone manufacturer, but now they've become just another Microsoft phone manufacturer.
Still, I'm sure Elop is just the man to get Nokia out of this sticky situation. Perhaps Microsoft will give him his old job back, once the job's been done....sorry, I mean once Nokia is beyond economic repair.
You have things, but made by your own people, with tax going to the government etc. You think of work as combination of both a way a making a few people very, very rich AND also as something which is good for society as it pays towards a government which is able to educate, provide health, arts, safety etc.
Unless you want to live in a society where 0.5% of the people own all the money, which is protected by angry, frustrated minimum wage grunts with lethal weapons and complete surveillance of all data transfer (cheaper than waiting for crimes to occur).
I've got a load of car stereos I want to shift fast because..uh..I've upgraded to in-car mp3 players or something. Anyway, if you want a load of car stereos quick and aren't going to ask too many questions then get in touch.
Gathering information from users locations, surfing habits, emails, etc etc etc and monetzing it (chiefly via making this information available to advertisers).
Because they've not yet become irrelevant. The OP sounds like a bit of an evangelist, and wants you think what should - and is happening - has happened. It hasn't, but he's sort of right. The dinosaur OSes have had their day - people are as happy - sorry, happer - using a decent mobile OS to access their apps/data, than the older OSes. Why can I sent a document from one app on my phone to another app/person by sharing via a button press or two, whereas on my desktop OS I have to try and download it , poke around trying to find it on my file system somewhere (good luck with that if you're not technical), then upload it again into my email system (duh - of course you transfer files using email - what else would you do?), and email it somewhere else. 1970's crap. It's time to start over.
He didn't agree to that - it was stuck on an email someone sent him. If I email you saying `you get to send me some Zappa CDs once a month` I don't expect you to give a shit either. It's not a contract - I'm not going to expect a copy of `One Size Fits All` in the post from you, and some guy sending emails to random people shouldn't expect them to follow his random instructions either.
They're never going to live that down, are they? "Opera - Browser of choice for phones too shit to run a decent browser like Chrome or Dolphin, or with not enough memory to run Firefox. But hey, no adverts - and it's free now!".

Mint. Last version to include it as an option was 12, and then only in 32 bit flavour.

We have to choose? :)

Er..no - you just don't write your SQL in such a way that SQL injections are possible.

Some of the artists on ECM hate that sound and have left the label and /or left the label precisely because of it.
We should probably call it the "magical thinking room". Let's hope it doesn't fall down, eh?
Can't you call the police and get it corrected? You can't seriously expect to be unable to vote because of some fuckwit, can you?
Why do you think those two examples are not easy? What's complicated about them?

They're worth something like $250 billion, so $12 billion isn't very much, is it?

People get paid for clicking `yeah, that'll do - bung it on the front page`? Why?
And Google! Don't forget them!
They can always use Bing and Apple Maps and Yahoo mail! That'll teach them!
