Then I'm fucking moving to Russia. If I can't have my computer and control it in-depth I don't want any part of it. The fun will be gone. No more linux, no more irc on networks other than aol or msn, no more email without outlook. Just fucking Microsoft.
It seriously might be a good idea to start buying up parts to black market later. The net will no longer be what it is today, we will probably have to log in to small private networks to get the latest news on what MS is fucking up and see some uncensored material.
2010 and our choices will be AOL, MSN or Phr34kY'5 Min-Net....

I don't get any feeling of "moral superiority" from seeing anyone hurt. I just want all spammers shot on sight or in a nice big line-up with a chaingun.
Anyone asinine enough to send spam does not need to be contributing to the gene pool.
Burning Karma makes me feel all prickly inside though...
I feel like there is grey matter leaking out my fucking ear right now. I tried to understand wtf is going with this but I am still clueless.
I'm scared. I don't want a Microsoft Computer. If I paid for it, it's mine and I can run any fucking software I want. Linux, Viruses (virii? whatever), porndialers, worms, Fucking Free Software that I don't have to pay Microsoft for.
I don't want Microsoft telling me what I can and cannot do with something I own. I used to chat on their IRC servers and saw how they treated users. It was a daily thing to dump everyone off just to see what would happen. I could see this: "BSOD: Microsoft has halted your computer's operation to see what would happen, please reboot to continue..."
If that is what is coming, I hope some group gets together and continues to make real computer parts. Of course it will probably be illegal by then.
Someone please post a real scenario of what things might be like with this stuff enabled...
I almost bought one of these unexpected pyrotechnic shows.
Can anyone recommend a decent brand (cheap) that will just handle flickers in power? I live at the the end of the power line out in the country so I get lots of 1 to 5 second power losses. Except when we get ice storms or tornados - then we don't have power for a week.
Say you are working on an uber secret project (or miltary plans or viewing gay pr0n) and the "men in black" come running in your house. Assuming you are more than 5 seconds away from being on the floor with a knee on your neck, how would you keep intruders from getting your data? (Or looking at what you were viewing, you sick freak)
Some sort of explosive device on a trigger next to your mouse?
A shotgun blast? (Hoping you hit the drives and don't get shot...)
Fast acting fantasy software to write random data 144 times over the disk in mere milliseconds?
What in the world is coming next? A TV that shuts off when you mute or flip channels during commercials or even more likely - refuses to let you do so?
Hearing this makes me glad that I'm finally getting around to building my own computers. That way I can buy older hardware. I'll gladly miss out on the fastest cpu to avoid that garbage. It's almost like buying pre-ban gun parts - wonder if the unprotected cpu's will jump in price when these come out....
Although, it's probably already in my new Dell, just waiting to be enabled...... Bastards
Something else crammed down everyone's throats by Microsoft... People will actually buy it too. Ugh.
Excellent point.
I'm thankful for one thing that I have that everyone needs in their area, a radio station that promotes local unsigned artists vehemently. This in co-ordination with a local store named CD-Xchange where you can buy CDs produced in living rooms & studios by new artists.
I sometimes surf http://theprp.com/ to find artists outside of my area. It's not easy though. Even Gnod didn't help much.
Corporate-art of Britney, Christina - maybe they'll get old once they finally get the T & A out for everyone to view...
I hope this is really good news in the long run.
Today I finally went over to the EFF site and joined up after I had an epiphany of sorts. I realized that now is the time to keep the internet from going the way of marijuana and any other ideas, items or whatnot that have been made illegal. Just to keep someone's pockets lined with green that he's sharing with a few of his buddies which help make and enforce our country's laws.
I love my country, but I feel we are not really as free as we should be, and that our freedoms are being traded for profit.
What is it going to take before the companies realize that the best way to fight their losses is to join in on it. By that I mean that they could release high quality mp3s (or OGG, but hopefully not wmp formats) with commercials tagged at the beginning and end. Sure, most of us here can edit them out, but they will still be heard. My idea probably sucks, but there has to be a solution, a compromise, or we all will end up losers.
Or did the price of DVDs drop to a reasonable level right before they start really caught on. I know I bought some good popular movies at less than $20 off sale, some being multiple disc special editions.
Then it seems the price rose again to over $20 ($22 to $25 for a regular movie and sometimes $30 for a special edition.)
Then it came back down to hang around $20. Was this caused by simple supply and demand or was there another illegal agreement made behind closed doors to keep prices from dropping?
Boy that was 1985 wasn't it?
I remember seeing it on a friend's birthday for his party and I do remember there being a "The End?" at the end of the movie. Or it may have been to be continued.... I hated waiting 5 years for the damn sequel though.
Is the dvd set any good? Couldn't splurge on it when it came out thanks to Xmas tapping the wallet a little dry.
She'd prolly go "Thank you sir, May I have another?"
Pretty little packages...

Overrated? Redundant I might have understood... but overrated? Someone had mod points that they couldn't find a good use for.
Or Ford/Mercury? Same with my Father's Merc Villager.

Offtopic?
I thought that asking if the universe will burn out sooner would be legit.........
Does this mean the universe will hit old age and die faster?

Me whump OGG on head - That's where the "In Soviet Russia" jokes came from!
Ugh WMP on Linux? Something seems horribly wrong about that, just like downloading IE and using it on OS X.
