Though what I think is interesting is that we see this and not something about how Facebook can improve, because Facebook sucks.
Seriously. There have been some times that I post posts where I clearly am pouring out my heart and absolutely no one responds. I would think that some family would respond.. and I also see cousins who posts lots of posts, and they are pretty popular and have lots of likes on Instagram and absolutely no engagement.
On the other side of that, I notice that I NEVER see posts from friends I ACTUALLY want to see posts from, even when they are set to "See First" and instead I see posts that are absolute garbage, and just.. The whole thing is awful. I won't even talk about the awful bugs and such.
It's the algorithms. They have made things worse, not better. It has gotten worse over time in the past eleven years. *sigh*
It's like if I went here to Slashdot, and instead of showing me EVERY article.. I see only the ones that "Slashdot thinks I'll be interested in" and it shows be a bunch of ones about cats and knitting pillows..
Oh yes, I am familiar with this too. I am sure there are a lot of talented developers that are forced to not be able to do the things they should be doing because of idiots in product management that don't know wtf they are doing.
Virtually almost every product I've used that is super popular seems to be complete garbage but super popular and making tons of $$$.
For instance. Making a piece of GDFPOSGDMFFFFFFFFF software but you're making a truck ton of money by selling off everyone's data.. That is complete garbage.
I'm not shocked. Ford is a car company that has been around a century or so, and they're not a tech company.
It is the tech companies that think they're God and that they are soo advanced and more intelligent that they should make the rules for everybody else.
What happened in Arizona is an outrage. You should not be testing alpha level software on public roads with real people on them, but coders tend to be super arrogant about their ability, when nowadays they are writing god-awful code.
I mean there was an article last year about how app developers today are suffering from all the same problems that the previous generation of developers faced and solved..
I mean nowadays people are saying that C is a low-level programming language. in my day C was considered high level.
So like if you think C is the equivalent of assembler and machine language today something is wrong.
Java, Javascript and like ReactJS etc. are cool. but they're not a replacement for good programming skills, and the existence of unlimited RAM and processor speed is not a replacement for actually writing efficient code.
After Tim Cook's Stalinesque speech about how hate has no place on their platform. (ie. anything that disagrees with our political ideology or exposes corruption) the word "curated" leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So I will avoid anything that says it's curated.
It's kinda like how baiscally "free" plugins that provide tons of value and don't charge you anything. I avoid those like the plague. Because basically the way that they are free is they track you and then sell your most personal details to the highest bidder.
I thought it was no where, and had died out with the advent of near-unlimited computing power.
To quote someone on a Facebook group whom I told Windows 10 is incredibly inefficient and a ram hog. their reply was "Ram? Who cares about ram? What are you, poor?"
Seems that since the advent of really high power CPUs and GPUs efficiency of code and optimization has gone by the wayside. Something that is hanging on by a thread ever-so-slightly in console game development. Once consoles start to have the power of PCs then we will see the extinction of extremely efficient optimized code.
But yes, to a lot of us "true" coders who actually give a darn about what the post says, the post is true:)
I've found that when you call out morons on the Internet they tend to scurry away.
One example is this, when I predict what they will do then they won't do it. (But then again there's this comment I'm replying to)
The other one, is when someone is being a bully, combined with the thinking that your toughness is related to how vulgar, aggressive and hostile you can be with your language, and I confront them and shut down their bullying. They also don't reply.
But they will go back and forth for hours with weaklings that will defend themselves they will belittle the crap out of them, but I noticed when I say something they shut the heck up.
Keyboard warriors piss me off man. Act all tough behind a glass screen. Liberals are so weak. They have only their virtue signals and several words including the F word, the C word, and for some reason they like to use "fecking" in place of the actual word.
What we need are journalists that don't suck incredibly hard at their job.
All the journalists that are losing their jobs right now are losing them because they work for garbage idiotic loser firms like Buzzfeed.
Tim Pool is one of the best journalists. Like REAL journalists and objective journalists I've seen in a loong time. And I know, I know.. You lefties think he's biased, that's how STRONG the bias is in the mainstream media. You look at someone like Tim Pool and his objectivity looks like bias because the baseline that is 99% of the media is extremely biased like MAD towards the left.
Continuing on, Tim used to work for Vice Media. He left because he SAW THIS COMING.
I mean forgetting about politics for a second, look at all the horrible copy/paste borderline plagiarized articles that firms like Buzzfeed, Vice, etc. put out.
Now compare that with other quality journalists who are writing actual good content.
The way to keep your job has always been providing the most value to the company. However, if the company is a sinking ship because they're stupid, then you should find another job. We all should work for a piece of sh*t firm and go down with the ship and end up broke and penniless and jobless as a result. This will teach a LOT of things. Like for instance, don't stay with a sinking ship just because you're getting a steady paycheck because that paycheck won't be there forever and it takes a long time to find a job.
Best way to save journalism is actually to be a good journalist. Be objective, not biased, and actually do good work.
Really had to do politically though if you're a political journalist because if you're not on the left you're going to be fighting an uphill battle of true bigots and triggered idiots who are in positions of power.
Liberals love to polish the gas lighting on conservatives who point out the left-leaning media.
Stop trying. Everyone knows that in the 1960s the left infiltrated universities and that for decades the liberal arts have been run by radical leftists who provide "Liberal" education, as in turning college students into leftist propaganda mouthpieces.
This is precisely why the most harmless man in the planet, Ben Shapiro, weighing in at a total of 95 pounds, requires security guards to speak at college campuses because hundreds of mindless drones go to protest saying he is a huge danger to the world.
Now I will clarify that maybe in some (or even most) cases the people that are saying there's no bias are completely and totally ignorant because the mainstream media wants to keep the masses as ignorant as possible.

This is pretty much how everything works nowadays.
You see articles all the time that are talking about studies that were undertaken that prove all this stuff that is common sense. And they spent countless millions or what not on the studies..
It's ridiculous. And most of it is all political.
Instead of having studies to find out what's true, they have studies to confirm their desired outcome. And when it doesn't they sweep it under the rug.
But the thing about this I find most interesting is.. There's errors being just discovered in how we calculate the distance of the planets... but we are so absolutely sure that Global Warming, err.. I mean Global cooling.. err. I mean Climate Change is going to kill us all in a few decades.
1. Posting as Anonymous Coward. nice. 2. Stating the truth isn't bias. Thank you for showing highlighting your political affiliation by inverting fact and bias/opinion.
See stuff proven by factual evidence. You know like. Stuff that has actually happened, and it can be verified as truth by recorded or corroborated facts, testimonies, videos, etc. evidence.
Bias is like, when you tend to judge things with a strong emphasis using your personal position in either politics, a romantic relationship with the subject/person/etc. to heavily influence your decision.
Such as Twitter's banning of conservatives for a molehill, while allowing Mt. St. Helens of tweets from democrats and leftists to stay without so much as a warning or any kind of anything negative at all. not even a slap on the wrist.
Oh it's not just that but.. yeah the dismissing what I wrote as a wall of text.. either whether due to ignorance of not wanting to "read too much" or whether to "insult me" also highlights your intelligence level and combined with the rest, your political affiliation as well as your age.
There is no way I want current technologists to be lawmakers. At least not the ones currently leading the charge. That would be Twitter, Facebook, Google.. All who are left leaning, some in radical ways. Google was helping China build it's social networking system. That is treason, and yet they were allowed to do it.
Look at all the stuff going on now with Twitter and Facebook banning conservatives left and right. All of the tech CEOs lied to Congress, and now Vijaya Gadde from Twitter is making statements on Joe Rogan's podcast that are completely false, and Tim Pool destroying them.
And then here's the other thing I didn't see (though haven't watched all of it).. When Joe said that there's hundreds of examples of white people getting mocked, she said mocking isn't the issue. Harassment is. Then he says okay well there are tons of examples of white people having racist tweets hurled their way. She says "Racism isn't the issue, again it's harassment".. and then she applies the rules across the board. This is a LIE.
There are countless tweets, many probably still in existence where a bunch of liberals said things, for example, that Covington high school should be burned to the "mother f***** ground" with the kids locked inside. At the same time I tweeted something like "If anyone believes something like that they need to be slapped".. I got slapped with a 12 hour suspension and was forced to delete the tweet in order to start the jail time and then get back on Twitter.
It's just absolute bunk and there is no way we can let them make the laws. They've turned the Internet into an authoritarian's dream by having a monopoly over the public square of the Internet.
And by the way, she kept repeating "targeted harassment" "targeted misgendering"... Saying "Men aren't women" isn't targeted and neither is what I said.. I didn't tell anyone YOU need to be slapped.. Nor was I harassing them.. Vijaya accurately defined harassment as targeted, continued unwanted attention.
So saying your opinion is not harassing someone. Asking a woman out or giving her a compliment is not harassing someone. This was the slippery slope of 5-10 years ago with the Hollaback movement where they were saying that a guy asking a girl out is harassment and then basically saying it's cat calling. And basically everything is cat calling now. Ben Shapiro asking AOC to debate him is cat calling. Yes. An orthodox jew who is 100% practicing and is married with two children is cat calling another woman when the ten commandments expressly prohibits adultery. And Ben Shapiro is not a douche bag. So no. He's not cat calling you. but I digress.
I have always said that lawmakers need to learn the tech but the reason they need to learn the tech is because the tech people are lobbying for stuff that they want which is basically corruption. They want to do things to hijack the rights of developers or hackers or what have you, and law makers don't know a toaster oven from a Gigabit router. At least they didn't.
The solution though is not to have people like Vijaya Gadde or Jack Dorsey become lawmakers. That is taking the middle man out of corruption.
To be honest I think that other things are much more important right now than AI.
This is pretty amazing that one accidentally proved something that is fictitious.
There is no such thing as patriarchy.
See Christina Hoff Sommers debunk all the nonsense of gender studies in the classroom.
This is also, by the way, the reasons many universities have made it against the rules or illegal to record their classes even for reference purposes the way you used to be able to.
Because they don't want it getting out what they are teaching to the students in various liberal arts classes.
We need to get liberalism out of colleges and put back rightful education. Stop turning our kids into liberal propaganda mouthpieces.
This is the problem when governments start to get bigger than the "protect the citizens' rights" limit that they should be.
Government starts to introduce laws that cater to large corporations that say "We can prosecute you for repairing stuff yourself" that is a violation of trade.
Once I pay you over a thousand dollars for something I should be able to do with it as I wish. That is ownership.
All of this started with the DCMA and we all warned this would happen and of course we were all called paranoid.
Make a simple law that states that once a consumer buys a product from that company the company cannot in any way shape or form do anything that would impede the consumer's freedom over use of that product, and not limited to but including, and then put every single possible use case and then extend it infinitely.
Of course this is a problem because governments have hyperextended their reach into consumers' lives beyond hat they should be allowed to do.
The entire situation is absurd. After the LOTR orc-like invasion on the Supreme Court after Kavanaugh, and all the reactive violent protesting after not getting their way each and every time (including the 2016 Presidential election), they call Amazon a petulant child for walking away from a bad business deal.
New York could basically be compared to Darth Vader while Amazon is Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back, where Vader alters the deal and says "Pray I do not alter it further."
When Amazon gets there, New York says they want Amazon to pay for all these extra programs and all this nonsense and on top of that AOC wouldn't give them a $3 billion tax break because the money is better spent elsewhere, even though them walking away from the deal means they won't be paying any taxes whatsoever, as usual proving AOC to be enormously ignorant.
Amazon simply made a good solid business decision to walk away from a bad deal.
The attitude of AOC and the other "activists" that were dead-set against Amazon coming to NY had made their decision long before any negotiations took place. Their misguided hatred of corporations that most "blame the man" poor people types have caused what democrats always do-- To assume mal intent on the part of the person you're about to have a discussion with so it is impossible to have a good discussion because one side is already convinced you're trying to screw them over.
Furthermore when Amazon said they made it a hostile environment to do business they hit the nail on the head with democrats. Hostile environment.
Feminists create a hostile dating environment, where you have to walk on eggshells to not get a false sex assault / harassment / rape accusation. SJWs create a hostile social environment where you have to walk on eggshells to not offend anyone. Corporate hating types create a hostile business environment where they want to take as much as they can from a rich corporation without giving anything in return.
In fact, people like AOC want to take as much as they can from everybody else while giving the absolute minimum they can in return. Don't believe me? Try to sell stuff on Craigslist or FB Marketplace-- The kingdom of lowballers.. They will try to get you to sell it for the lowest you possibly will accept and even con you by saying they have some incredibly low amount of money right now that they could show up in your house in an hour and buy it for, and it's like less than half of what you were asking for, which is already 30% less than you could get on eBay or Amazon.
When it comes to stuff like this believe nothing you see from mainstream media of any kind. (Fortune = Mainstream media)
Here's the problem with this:
Amazon just pulled out of NY after democrats don't want to work with them. Democrats start projecting calling Amazon a "petulant child," despite this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlMIyae9-ZU Now mainstream magazines posting triggering articles bashing Amazon saying they will pay no taxes.
I find that 90% of the errors in my tweets are auto-correct related. It does the most insane blunders, and also butchers their/there/they're to/too are/our etc. Pretty much any word that sounds the same it will make you look like an illiterate fool who triggers grammar nazis on the daily.
You don't always have time to proofread tweets two or three times just to make sure you don't miss some stupid auto-correct blunder.
And now-- if it's not bad enough desktop OS's have auto-correct built into them as well.
I knew this John Delaney guy was a Democrat instantly because of the desire to grow the government in a completely unnecessary way.
We have the NSA, that's all you need.
Very simple.

How they do this is the key.
For instance. Making a piece of GDFPOSGDMFFFFFFFFF software but you're making a truck ton of money by selling off everyone's data.. That is complete garbage.

If it's being reported there it is highly suspect, as it WILL be highly slanted towards democrats.
Here's how you can prove it: Find ANY article that has a conservative point of view that isn't labelled "opinion."
I'll wait.
After Tim Cook's Stalinesque speech about how hate has no place on their platform. (ie. anything that disagrees with our political ideology or exposes corruption) the word "curated" leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So I will avoid anything that says it's curated.

Honey? Nope. Grammarly? Nope. Facebook? F no.
But it can't even stop auto correct from sucking!

Let me repeat myself for the retarded folks:
Science: You have studies to figure out how something works or what outcome you get from a hypothesis
Liberal pseudo-science: You rig studies in favor of coming out with your chosen outcome. If it doesn't you simply do not publish that study.
Liberalism isn't a conspiracy, it's just fucking stupidity incarnate.
So next time don't try to apply conspiracy theories to where there are none you hack.
This is pretty much how everything works nowadays.

Solution:
Be like everyone else and allow people to click "edits" and see all versions of the tweet.
