Yes. While most soundcards can handle 6 MP3s at the same time, they can't handle 6 different seperated output speakers at the same time. They'd all be playing on the same speakers. Besides, most soundcards don't have 6 seperate outputs anyway. I'm sure it could be done with some interesting interface hardware and some hacking though.

You've got to do what you've got to do.â

In actual fact, only 20 million americans use P2P software. But some of those people use it alot, far more than the average person, so really what they mean is "the equivalent of 43 million americans use P2P sofware".
Uh, no. In actual fact, I'd wager 100 million Americans use some form of "illegal" P2P or piracy. Consider FTP servers, IRC channels, or your neighbor who burns full albums for 2$ a CD. This "crime" is so common that it should just be legalized and then RIAA can draw up a replacement for their obsolete business model.

Normally it's adapt or die, but since the RIAA is so ridiculously rich, instead of dying they force their outdated business model down the public's throat. So we (the public) have responded with P2P. The saddest part about the whole ordeal is the absurd number of people who take the side of the RIAA blindly. "If it's illegal, it MUST be wrong!" Actual quote from someone I discussed this with once. Sad isn't it?

You're right, Java can't compete with stuff like C++ for overall power. But Java could easily be used to, for example, design a Super Nintendo-like graphics game. Easily. Not everyone wants 3d rendered games you know. Many people like simple 2d sprites in a simple 2d environment. Brings back a cartoony, video-game feel.

You forget that not all games are first person shooters. A good game of chess online can be done just as fast in Java as it can be in C++ if you're running a reasonably modern computer. Take it a step further and consider empire building games such as Civilization. Those are also easy on the system. Java can handle it quite nicely. Java was built with crossplatform compatability in mind. It's slowness is minimal and a wonderful tradeoff for the fact that I can run a java app in Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix, or any other major OS.

Actually as a matter of fact I am currently involved in a large scale software project (currently two years in the making) and I know exactly what it's like. Bugs are inevitable, but its not the user's responsibility to take the heat for the programmer's screw ups. That'd be like you going to jail for taking Advil yesterday because the drug was made illegal today.

As far as I'm concerned, the SB players who exploited the bug were well within their right to do so. Deadline or not, software should be released functional not early. I'll gladly wait for a game to be released an extra year if it is guaranteed to be quality. Developers never seem to take the time to test for this crap. The very fact that a bug existed in their public release so large that any old user could wiggle his way into "god mode" is shameful.

If I were in charge over there, I'd have a good laugh with it, fix it, revert the server, and move on. Treating this retarded exploitation of an in-game bug like some kind of evil crime is silly, and so is anyone who actually takes crap like that so seriously.

Furthermore, this mass banning benefits no one. Players are pissed, company looses money, so what's the friggen point?

My point exactly. I play, and enjoy console games quite readily except via ZSNES, ePSXe, Project64 etc emulators. You can do more with an emulator than you can with a console. For example, you're not limited by the tiny space of a playstation memory card. If I want to save my FF7 286 times well hot damn I can do that! All the best games from Sony and Nintendo are ONLY released on consoles which forces the people who want to play them to buy the respective console.
