"Officials in Microsoft's Russian business unit said the region had a stable power supply
"a" power supply, dont you want your servers to have REDUNDANT power supplies???
we had a friend who kept a police whistle next to the phone (the metal kind) and when a telemarketer was especially annoying they would use it on them... VERY effective...
When it comes to environment: California != USA. California has stricter environmental laws than almost anyone, that is not the standard in the US. at least not to my knowledge. California standards are defacto standards for the rest of the US as carmakers make all their cars to meet California standards, that way they dont have to have a "California edition" and a "rest of the US edition"...
Instead of Comcast stating "unlimited internet" at a blazing 8mb/sec, they may now have to say 8mb/s but we block all P2P applications, do not allow you to host your own email server on port 25 and we will disconnect your service if you use more than 100GB a month.
no, they will just say "some restrictions apply, see our website for details" (which admittedly would be better than a invisible limit like they currently have)
Same here... last night I ran windows update (advanced mode) and did not select to download the search upgrade and guess what... it didnt install... funny thing about that..
windows isnt perfect but that does not make it ok to spread FUD about it.

If a stove burns you every time you touch the hot burner, do you stop touching it and get called a flip-flopper, or learn from the mistake and stop touching it? I might do some research before touching the stove in the first place thus be able to stick to my guns on an issue and not flip-flop... over and over and over.

I resemble that post... I was homeschooled until I was 16, then I chose start college (and the first of my fulltime jobs), I never (and still dont) in with most of my "peers" who are/were in my age group... they were (in my mind) acting stupid and immature... that continues today where I am 22 but fit in perfectly with 28-30yo people MUCH better than I fit in with 19-24yo people...
Good Point... I was assuming that the price to make X1 vs the price to make X2 was the same... but I suppose that the price for X2 would be slightly higher due to the additional R&D to lock the phones to AT&T...
Aaron Z
- we'd sell X1 thousand units at price Y1, unlocked and for everyone
- we'd sell X2 thousand units at the much lower price Y2, even if it's tied to AT&T
Obviously they thought that X2 > X1.
I think the formula would be more like: (X2*Y2)>(X1*Y1)
And Google is any better? Google Mail has this really annoying blue bar at the top of the "body" section of your email controls that shows you information totally unrelated to mail. In fact, right now, it is showing me the following: "Yahoo! News: Entertainment News - Milan To Create a Via Versace (Fashion Wire Daily) - 2½ hours ago." Every time I see it I loathe it because meaningful titles (like the email title) or controls/buttons should go there. Not some stupid link that's cleverly disguised.
you do realise that you can turn that off in settings???
go to Settings > Webclips > and there unclick the box marked "Show my web clips above the Inbox"... should take 45 secs...
why would they want to do that??? in such countries they preprint the paper ballots so no one can make a mistake, the name of the proper canadit is premarked.
in the parts I was in there were cybercafes everywhere from downtown rosario to the suburbs to in colon, and even the small towns have 2 or 3, they are in everything from commercial buildings to in peoples garages...
having recently gotten back from spending 2 years in argentina I would have to disagree with the internet access numbers, if you are talking about internet access in the home it is much less than 1/3, if you are talking about being able to go to a cybercafe and use a computer than the whole nation can
if it is that old it is probably passing carbon monoxide into the air, if I were yuo I would have it checked and if your furnace is putting too much carbon monoxide into the air your landlord is (often) REQUIRED to fix it, not sure where you live but here is want they have to say in VT: http://healthvermont.gov/enviro/indoor_air/co.aspx #six

do you by any chance have TDS and their wonderful POS modem/router?

that has to be about the best post of its kind ever...

I beg to differ... there was an article here on /. a while back about spoofing the RFID chip in a carkey and here is another example

she could sell the hammer on eBay... it would probably bring in enough to more than pay for the equipment she destroyed... Aaron Z
please provide a reference to back up your statement.
Hope she wins and gets a couple of million from the RIAA (as well as setting a precedent)

as I understand it the faster cars go the more of them will pass in any given minute... the slower they go the less will pass in said minute
may I point out that that is 2 seconds BETWEEN cars, not a car every 2 seconds so when you make the cars faster there are more passing per minute.
