    All people have rights.

    Do I have the right to live in a safe and quiet neighborhood? It seems from your argument the answer is no, that it should be illegal to try and keep "sectarian violence and outright block warfare" away.

    They get all the feel good publicity without the need to actually deliver anything. Plus the government project project managers on the projects will have jobs waiting for them when they retire.

    The same arguments do apply, but it's irrelevant in this case.

    The FCC doesn't make laws, that's Congress' job. They were trying to override the state laws without the authority to do so.

    That depends on what the meaning if "is" is. Any software I don't want that wastes my time by displaying ads or using machine cycles is malware.

    The administration is trying to appear tough on Big Business by standing up for...I don't know...somebody.

    I wouldn't be surprised if the cars emit less pollutants per mile driven without the emissions junk.

  14. When looking at an entire populate, the very muscular athletes are outliers. High BMI almost always indicates obesity.

  15. Your claim of lower cognitive performance due to diet choices is not related to the premature aging the scientists found.

    My guess is that the brain matter loss has more to do with the sedentary life style which often goes along with obesity. Lack of exercise, watching too much TV, etc.

    It's something that the west can't really do because the economic/commercial benefit of doing it today isn't great enough

    The main holdup in the US is something called "private property". Yes, you can take it by eminent domain, but that's really difficult and always involves long legal battles.

    A few months ago a /. story stated that US internet speeds were lower than most European countries. Everyone believed those numbers.

    Now the US numbers are higher than Europe and nobody believes them.

    Bottom line is that everyone's speeds are going up; whoever had the most recent survey wins.

    She ran basically unopposed for NY Senator... and had to cheat to win this year

    She cheated in the Senate election the same way she cheated this year. Only difference was nobody called her out that time.
