By the time I'm old and wrinkly, I doubt I'll care what my tattoo looks like as I'll be more bothered about how loose the skin is on my face... or where I've left my false teeth!
If you had a 1m^2 solar cell you wouldn't use a mirror that focused 1m^2 of light into a 1cm^2 dot, you would use a much bigger mirror that focused 25m^2 of sunlight onto the original 1m^2 solar cell.
Or, if you were being forced to smoke (which is seriously harmful) you could take the life of the person forcing you to smoke and claim self-defence.
What about passive smoking? You're forced to breathe in smoke (which can kill you) but I doubt you could massacre everyone in a pub and claim self defence?
I'm running Xandros 2 on an Nforce motherboard with no problems. Onboard sound and network both work fine and were detected automatically.
The only other distro I've tried in with was PCLinuxOS (live cd) and it worked fine with that too.
Try Total Commander. It has two panels for listing files and you can set it up so that anything you type goes into a little command box at the bottom.
Pressing + brings up a file selection box, type *.jpg (or whatever), then type in your command like rm (or whatever), hit ctrl+return and it will perform it on all the selected files.
Very cool program, I haven't used windows explorer or a single command line in a long time.
I think the point the parent poster is trying to make is:
Windows updates that might brake things = bad
Linux updates that might brake things = not bad
or am I missing the point?
One last thing, courtesy of Scott Kurtz. If EMP weapons work so well against the machines, how come they haven't delevoped the hell out of that technology? Why not place EMP generators willy-nilly along their line of retreat?
Why not lob a few at the machine city/powerplant/whatever? All that farting about in the Matrix when they could be unleashing some serious firepower. Just a thought.
Destroying the machine powerplants would mean killing all the humans still hooked up. They where trying to free them, not put them out of their misery.
The only thing I would need to recompile my kernel for to get working fully, is my 8-in-1 card reader. Apparently there is some scsi option I need to enable to use anything besides the compact flash reader.
Which option is it? I've been trying to get a USB 5-in-1 card reader to work but it just keeps saying "read mode is not allowed" or something like that.

Thats the worst idea I've ever heard!
.. put your head and torso in a brand new garbage bag.
:-)
Whoever modded this as Interesting should try this sometime
I'm at work at the moment and I can't remember exactly what it is off the top of my head. ABIT I think.
I do know that it is an Nforce2 with dolby decoder (and little SPDIF output). I'll reply back with the exact specs when I get home.

Plus you could liquify all the dead humans and you wouldn't have to worry about looking for food for a while :-)
