Take a look at Go and then ask yourself why there are no good Go AI programs. Chess is easy to "solve" with computers, Go isn't, yet anyway.

Frankly digg has already become more useful to me than Slashdot. I really just keep visiting here out of very old habit. I've been using this site for years and frankly it has been neglected by the "editors". Maybe this will actually encourage some innovation at this site for the first time in years.

Right you suspect because there are no Chinese who can/would speak out against their government without harsh retaliation. You are probably right that large numbers of Chinese are okay with how they are living, if it was otherwise there would probably be more uprisings. However, there were more than 70,000 uprisings in the rural areas last year. How often do you read about those on the BBC? Why?

But this guy is an ass. There are plenty of Open Source products that people don't pay for. Does Google pay for Linux and Apache? Does Yahoo pay for FreeBSD, does Apple? Nope. If you don't like it, don't use the license.

Someone would probably give OpenBSD a grant, but Theo has already proven he doesn't know when to shut up and has problems playing with others. Cry me a river.

There are some people that are going to be pissed off no matter what. If we followed this attitude, we would still have Jim Crow laws because people like you would be trying to placate the KKK.

Instead of coddling the KKK (terrorists), let us make sure that these groups have a ready outlet to protest the discrimination and poverty they undoubtably face. We need less Bin Ladens and more MLK Jrs from the Middle East, and no more Western apologists.
