I don't know that any Linux e-mail client would save any file with the executable bit set by default. Granted, the e-mail could tell them to open up the command line and do a chmod +x, but would anyone that would fall for that line be able to do it?
Just so you know, any publicly facing DNS server can be used for this purpose, and in fact its probably a good thing to have one as a tertiary server, so if all of comcast's stuff goes down, you are still functioning.
Well something I wasn't familiar with at least was that Canadians had the same Japanese internment camps that the USA had in WW2. Just an example of something I've heard a lot of hand wringing about in the United States but not much finger pointing at Canada.
Cheers.
Firstly, this fails to take into account the recent Microsoft settlement which brought $536 million into Novell, plus the additional cash they have on hand. They aren't suddenly going into bankruptcy.
Second:
"it is getting excited about the version of KDE that will accompany SuSE Linux 10 next year. This is based on Mono, another Novell takeover, which aims to provide a development environment that will run Java and Microsoft.net on Linux"
KDE has nothing to do with Mono. The author probably meant Ximian Gnome, but that doesn't even make the statement true, and wtf does Mono have to do with Java?
SuSE + Ximian + Mono + Novell = Good prospects in my book. Granted Novell management has a long history of screwing things up, but this product line looks pretty promising. In fact, full disclosure I put my money where my mouth is and purchased some amount of Novell stock.
Can you explain to me why the OS would bluescreen due to a divide by zero from the APPLICATION? Maybe I'm naive, but an application should not be able to crash the kernel.
Is it just me or is Google getting a little unfocused with too many acquisitions and weird plans like this? How about spending some time on your core business, your google groups "upgrade" was three step backwards.
Its getting to the point where I'm about to stop reading after being an extremely long time reader. Slashdot has always been a bit of a rumor mill, but lately it seems to have gotten worse. It used to be Taco and crew would respond to the users, but they haven't even gotten rid of this horrible color scheme, much less done anything else for the users.
All countries involved have something to be proud on. Nice to see American and Europe working towards a common goal instead of bickering. Merry Christmas everyone!
Shut the fuck up with the "I for one welcome..." jokes. The fact that this got a 5 interesting is turning me the same color as the awful IT section color scheme.
Can we start talking about tech again? Or do we have to keep rehashing the same tired jokes? If it doesn't get any better, I'm going to get some god damned grits and pour them down my pants.
What are you even talking about, how about some objective evidence, instead of some pithy quote?

I'm not crying slippery slope, but at what point do you stand up and say this isn't right?
I don't think its coincidence that George Orwell was British.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
Mohandas Gandhi
Check out GimpShop. Sounds like there are people working on a more "sane" interface for Gimp. Cheers!
I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, spare me the hype.

How many people call any tissue Kleenex? How many people call any copy machine Xerox? How many people refer to any soda as Coke?
Try again.
CmdrTaco, its obvious you don't read your own site anymore, so please stop posting. This is getting embarrassing.

Focus.
Just have to be careful with this as someone can DoS your accounts pretty easy.
Michael, take a day off, you apparently need it.

Its okay we discard the opinion of anyone with a userid over 5 digits ;)
Yeah cuz Communism brought so much prosperity, freedom and peace to this world in North Korea, East Germany, Cuba and China.
I ask myself why everytime I come see inane stories like this. How about posting something interesting?
