I hope it's just me, and the amount of work I've been doing lately on this subject- but XP with SP2 on any AMD processor won't even allow the Windows CE VM to execute in debug mode. What chance does a third party language/compiler/debugger have?
Agreed. My agency won't be upgrading right away either- we've still got about 270 applications to TEST let alone recompile (that's all most of them need- valid digital signatures).
The original one was an exploration of middle eastern myth and religion, set against the backdrop of a cold war gone horribly wrong.
The new one does away with the exploration of mythology (almost- we still have the hunt for Earth and the Lords of Kobol- they might expand upon it more in the series than in the original) set against the backdrop of a fledgeling society turned terrorist against the older society (that is, instead of the US vs Soviet cold war being the backdrop, you have the US vs Saudi Arabia Frankenstien Complex backdrop). With one heck of a lot more emphasis on terror and destruction (that's why the baby had to be killed in the first 10 minutes- one child found with a broken neck in it's pram creates a lot of confusion and terror- the new cylons are most efficient).
I only watch about 6 hours of TV regularly anymore- and I timeshift that (no TIVO, why when a $20 VCR from the pawnshop will do?): Bill Cosby's new cartoon show Fatherhood, Red Green on PBS, Enterprise on Friday Nights (what will I do when Joan of Arcadia comes back?), and Stargate (both SG1 and Atlantis). Plus Britcoms on Saturday Night on PBS. 2.5 hours PBS, 2 hours SciFi, 1 hour UPN,.5 hours Nickelodeon. About 40% cable. Is it worth the $30/month? I'm not sure- going to investigate bittorrent for that.
Why not- we already threw in the Kzinti in the cartoon series and the X-Men in one of the books and Q's son in TOS and Q himself- none of it is pure. And that wasn't even dealing with time traveling episodes and branching futures and pasts- that was all in the original universe! Anybody who thinks that there's a pure continutity to any Sci-Fi out there is just deluding themselves. Sure, some continutity is nice- it makes the stories make more sense to have backstory- but after a hundred years of Mr. Verne's "Scientific Romances" being popular, no writer today is working in a vaccum.
Tried that- they didn't want me- something about the fact that during the last gulf war I made the public suggestion that being a beserker was the best way to survive any military firefight.
And no, I disagree with this being "The only way"- given what already happened in the movie "First Contact" it's entirely possible that Enterprise fits within the universe perfectly, just on another timeline (originally the Mirror Universe timeline if the original series synopsis let out was correct- but since the Xendi/Sphere Builder interference in Earth History, suddenly the Suliban and the 30th Century TimeFleet guys are on the same side as a whole new front has opened in the Temporal Cold War- apparently a front that includes Xendi Reptilians teaching the Nazis how to fight). Once you change your universe to a multiverse- anything is possible, even probable.
Yep- because it would fit with the initial show concept, where whatever the writers come up with will no doubt be a useless throw away time travel episode that makes no difference to the timeline whatsoever.
Here's a great source for the whole immigration vs job growth thing: Numbers USA
Most people think they're just racist- until you dig into their membership and the mathematics behind their statments. Even the Border Control admits that between legal and illegal immigrants, we have ~240,000 new Americans of working age EVERY SINGLE MONTH. Let me know when the Labor Department gets a ClueX4.
:-) Digital cable is different- in addition to TV Channel data, digital cable sends you a huge variety of stuff down your cable- e-mail, digital music, IP tunneling, etc. It's not outside the realm of possiblity that somebody could hack your Windows Embedded set top box, thus the need for a firewall.
32,000 is a NEGATIVE when you've added 240,000 working-age immigrants in the past month- fewer jobs available per capita. And that's what we're adding about now- because if you think this "jobless recovery" is bad, try Mexico.
As a W2 contractor- I'd jump for health care in a heartbeat. Training would be nice too.
But on the plus side I'm getting 55% of what the company is charging for my time, even if it is only half what I would bring into the company during the dot com era.
For you maybe- I did it with big macs and figured out that even if I got into the best shape I've ever been in, I'd still be needing about 20 cents a mile for a bike- and my car gets 40mpg, which comes to about 8 cents a mile once I put in gas, oil, tires, service, average repair, and depreciation.
Maybe a bit less now that I'm commuting 500 miles a week.
Now if I could get an electric scooter to go 85, I'd be in good shape though- much cheaper and easier on the environment (especially since 90% of my electricity is hydro to begin with).
I was out 26 months (October 2001-December 2003). Hang in there. You'll find the questions for assistance are MUCH harder now than they were even 10 years ago- food stamps basically aren't available if you have 2 people getting UI checks within the last 6 months, and welfare is basically non-existant. We lost about half of our asset value before I finally got a job. And I was putting out 100 resumes every single month (basically did nothing else other than send out resumes).
I think Both Katies would be interesting for a/. interview. Katie Jones on how to deal with a massive influx of traffic to a private domain name used primarily for family photos, and Katie Tarbox on where rich girls go online (for the more lonely and younger/.ers out there).
Past Tomorrow?

Enter your phone number into google sometime- it's not that hard to track you RIGHT NOW.

Wouldn't he loose any movie acting rights?

But the new cylons look like us (or at least, in models 6-12) and thus, the new cylons are supposed to be TERRORISTS.

Better yet- we find out that the shaddowy figure that has been advising the Suliban is Emperor Tiberius himself- Evil Kirk from the Mirror Universe.

Ah- ok, that makes more sense. I just couldn't get that math to add up.

But on a 1200X768 monitor, 80 columns is only about 1/8th of the screen in a readable font- I prefer 132 column limit these days.

Also, note that with our current immigration rate- we need 300,000 jobs EVERY MONTH just for population expansion. 32,000 jobs is NOTHING.

Ok, that's pretty good, even if you ate a 1lb bowl that's the equivalent cost of 60 miles for a gallon of gas.
How much does a bowl of cereal cost in your area?
Something tells me their decay detector is NOT 98% accurate as claimed.
So a wrong and 13% of another wrong make a right?

I registered mine as a business name- TM status is harder and more expensive.
