    Actually yes. I know several dairies that are energy independent, just due to funneling the manure into a capped digesting pond with a methane powered turbine sitting on top.

    Not for the past 25 years, but I have friends that still do. I had been working minimum wage since the 1980s until I graduated from college and started my unstable career. I bettered my skills and job hopped instead of continually begging for more hours.

    Friends in their 70s and 80s who have to thanks to the stock market meltdown of 2007. I know of entire industries that work full time minimum wage- one big one here in Oregon is gas station attendants, the ultimate fallback position.

    What raises? Businesses stopped giving raises back in the 1970s. I have to job hop to get a raise.

    The real problem being that there is zero reason to pay more to anybody with RARE skills. Those are minimum skills, and only deserve a minimum wage, yet they are the best most people have to offer.

  14. I find it very interesting that I've read articles on both sides of the fence from a single study. Both proof that raising minimum wage doesn't cost jobs and proof that raising minimum wage DOES cost scheduled hours. Perhaps they are both right.

    I was usually the queer getting smeared too, and it taught me to stay on my feet regardless of pain.

    That skill 30 years later helped greatly in a mugging incident.

    Willing to bet that $10/lb olive bar is pretty darn profitable too. A pound of olives, of any variety, is NEVER anywhere close to that expensive, even after fermenting and marinating.

    When you get a CFO who is more interested in cost cutting than innovation, experiments like IoT that have yet to see profitability get shut down.

    The next round of layoffs is going to be all the IoT groups.
