If you need someone to answer that for you, just buy the Mac.
I could think of several reasons why *I* would rather use the Linux desktop, with the principal reason being it's cheaper.
I think the big difference to me is the fact that BSD/GPL products specifically do not advertise any fitness to a particular service. They don't run TV commercials saying, you can use their product to play online with your friends, then later effectively shut down their online service unless you accept amended terms.
There is such a thing as forgiveness. At the time, I figured that the root-kit incident had been over 5 years and it was time to give them another chance.
I broke my boycott of Sony due to shipping CDs with root-kits to get a PS3 when the slim model was released. Soon after, the network was hacked, and I lost the ability to use the console without agreeing to waive my rights to sue them if they get hacked again.
Breaking my boycott was a mistake. The company is dead to me now
I don't see what your solution has to do with genetic variability created by natural selection, since this is clearly an artificially generated scenario. Call it anything else you like, but don't call it Darwinism.
Personally, I favor a social anarchists solution whereby monopolies granted by patents are not allowed because they cost more to society than the value they provide.
Am I remembering incorrectly, but didn't RIM shut down the service during the riot and also allow police access to private messages in an attempt to suppress the riot? If I'm wrong, I blame people for reporting on hypotheticals.
They can throw a fit, but it won't really impede progress. I mean, we still *eat* animals and use their hides in shoes and handbags. Using mice for science is more ethical than cosmetic uses, and hardly every store carrying leather is affected by those nuts.
It's also not fair to compare Fox News to this type of situation. Fox News was created to present the conservative angle of the news without the need for fact checking. For them to acknowledge mistakes is antithetical to their core mission to "present the other side".
Being methylated activates the gene. It depends on the context if it is good or bad. For example, a growth gene might be good during development, but might be bad in the case of cancer.
OP taking issue with Obama's betrayal of his duty to uphold the American Constitution, specifically the Fourth Amendment, *isn't* name calling. It is arguing the issue.
The Democrats are currently to the right of Ronald Reagan on most policies, but that is not because they have taken over the GOP.
It's true that Democrats are now championing formerly Republican platforms, but the GOP is moving things even further to the right.
Copyright is evil because it puts a monopoly on culture. I'll argue that if older material were released to the public domain as the founders intended, there would be more than enough free material to bring down piracy on newer creations.
People pirate the new stuff because the old stuff has been out of print for so long (which benefits no one), they've forgotten about it. Put it in the public domain rather than let it gather dust.
Let's not pretend that this is a partisan issue. Obama wouldn't investigate illegal activities of the former Republican administration. In fact, he retained many of Bush's people despite running on a platform of "change".
Republicans and Democrats are different sides to the same coin. They have no interest in stopping corruption.
I'm pretty sure that ALEC (http://www.alec.org/), or similar groups, write our laws. Our legislators are merely paid to propose them and vote them up or down.

If only you could invent a business that survived without customers...
"named after" != "is in"

If you think you need a PHB at all, I don't think you deserve to be in business. Why not get someone competent?

Also, This American Life (Chicago Public Media) != NPR.
I'm sure they might have a reason, but nevertheless I'll agree. It shouldn't matter how well someone knows you. This is unacceptable behavior.
They ask you to log in to your Facebook account before they even know you. If this happened to me, I would refuse and then politely excuse myself.
I would imagine the opposite. They are not a software company. They make most of their money on hardware.
I would imagine that the iWallet could be remotely revoked.

Almost every Android phone also has the ability to install a custom ROM that does not include any extra apps, including the google ones.
Since android is open source, there are ROMs that actually add this functionality to the OS. It was available on Cyanogenmod 7.1.0, for example.
It goes to Amazon in addition to Google.
