People need to know the limits of their freedom on the internet. I am all for freedom of the internets, expressing an idea, deploring stupid thoughts, but personal attacks and blackmail we need to have protections. Not because it causes social harm, people need to think before they act, but because it causes mental harm, long term mental harm. Mental harm our society will have to pay for in lost wages/taxes, mental assistance, and of course the sympathy/empathy we feel for these people. To become null to their pains is to become a person living in a warzone, not caring about those around us. We should not be that society.

Because people have been wanting a new OS after WinXP has been out for 7+ years, but no one wanted to upgrade to the laggy crappy Vista because it had no new enhancements that were worth while. True, Win7 isnt that much of an upgrade from WInXp, but at least it doesnt tax your system like WinVista did. Only reason I got Vista was for the DX10+ free win7 upgrade(with DX11 support).

The purpose of an Operating System is to support and enhance your computing experience. New Linux distros tend to contain new Kernels and/or security releases. Microsoft has an auto update, Most linux distros do not. The 6 month update relates to many things for many reasons, monetary may be one of them, but so is security, and other things. Microsoft has not released a new enhancement since Vista, and has not released a new OS since XP (pun not intended, but it works). Remember how Vista was supposed to have a whole new File System and other enhancements? So, you have muddled up the differences to support your point of view, grats you are a news shill otherwise known as a pundit.

I dunno, I had the same thought as parent. You Mods do realize that the differences in Office 2010 and Office 2k8 are interface differences? You do realize the differences in Vista and WIndows 7 are mere "bug fixes", much like Win 95 and Win98 were. WinME doesnt count... ever. If you read something and take it for face value or use that one point as a "citation" that encompasses your whole argument then you will always look a fool. Unfortunately, "life choices" are often taken from one point and then embedded in our brains and no one else can tell us different. Religion comes to mind as a "citation" in this case.

I think the parent post has a point. No where in the question did the user state any necessity for a Server OS that runs blah blah blah... They stated they want to work with a new OS and that is it. It might be that the user is looking more for actual data such as usability, sustainability, best of the two in resources, code, information, as well as any gotyahs that come with one of the two OSes listed. So, blame the user for not stating what they want, or maybe even knowing what they want, not the parent post.
