My shop is in a cut throat industry where retail profit margins are %20-30 max. A new machine came on the market and I paid $3000 for it and sold it for $3500, Hey its $500 profit I never had. So some other retailer saw it advertised on my FB page. They complained to the manufacturer. The manufacturer said we don't control prices. Buddy complained about how he wont buy from this manufacturer/wholesaler anymore. Well the wholesaler looked at his history and told him that last time he bought anything from them was over a year ago. By the time buddy phone next week once more complaining I already sold 4 of those machines.
Sooo what I did after that to piss this other retailer even more. I posted a new ad for the machine. Listing it at $4000 with an instant after purchase $500 cash back.
not because of price, I'd even pay $15 per month but because they blocked my VPS/DNS service. So I cut off their access to my CC. Guess what I don't even miss it. The kids had a hissy fit but I told them hey go ahead and pay for it yourself and all of a sudden no one cared at all to have Netflix.
It cost me about $150 CDN to get a non profit SOCAN license of my steamcast station. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be much for for a non profit/hobby on demand station. Just upload all my tracks to a server and anyone I know can now listen to them anytime they want Split that between 10 people and its $15-20 per year.
from one market to another so there is no money lost, it just gets spent somewhere else. It fuels other market segment and might even generate more tax from sales/services for the gov. NOW that is if you believe every download means a lost sale. I got 800+ reason to download my dvd collection when I feel like it and delete the digital file when I don't want it anymore.
They started to block DNS/VPN (Canada to US) services and blocked mine so I blocked their access to my wallet. I had Netflix for about 4 years and Hulu for a couple. I cancelled about 2-3 months ago and you know what its like it never existed. The kid cried foul but that's a personal millennial problem, once I told him he can pay for it himself he too totally forgot it existed.
That's my problem with Internet media. Its never really when I'm relaxed as I'm so used to multiple usage on a computer that usually I start tuning out music or any other audio. I never like talk radio in cars just music. Talk radio makes me thing too much and not pay as much attention to the road.
Also the main problem is I grew up in listening to talk radio at night. Usually my grandma had Radio Free Europe on.
Seriously I don't care how good a system is, you give up control of the car to any auto system where the operator now will do everything but pay attention, you're gonna get crashes. Even the few extra second lost to trying to recover to manual driving is enough to potentially get into an accident and win an award..
Three of my buddies had Dodge Lasers in the 90's. Two of them could open each others locks and start the car with their own keys. It also worked on other peopel Dodge Lasers. Dodge trucks and cars were easy to steal. Pup the night glow ring, punch the tumbler as a certain spot to pop it out and use the same screwdrive to turn the ignition on. Took about a minute.
A fool is easily separated from his/her money. The I need the newest shiny has been beaten into a new generation and they have no issues spending $500+ on new phones every new model, so upgrading to a new console will be no issue.
