    I think the point the poster is making is that if we increase life span by say 50% then we are effectively increasing the population (in the long run) by 50%. Three people that live to 80 are the equivalent to 2 people that live to 120, 3 people soon to be living to 120 is a 50% increase in the population.

    No kidding, every project I've ever worked on (many of them estimated by me, sigh) took longer than we thought. Thankfully they eventually got done, but I still can't seem to get it right.

    Excuse me? Don't you remember that they came out alive? Is there some better outcome that you expected? I bet I know what it is, we didn't bomb, strafe and kill to get the hostages back, and that makes you mad. Of course if we did then almost certainly many of the hostages would have been killed as a result, but hey, YOU weren't a hostage, and not killing to get them back makes you mad. What a monstrosity, no wonder you love Bush.

    If you hate litter so much you could do what I do when I walk my dogs. I carry a plastic bag for the poop, and fill it with the litter I encounter on the walk. Voila! No litter, no camaras, no whining about the mess. Take matters into your own hands mate, don't wate for the state to fix your problem.

    I think the point being made is that by taking Cuban sugar off the American market we have driven up the price Americans pay for sugar.

    Born and raised in Cal, yeah, there are 'kooks' for politicians sometimes, but these kooks are like 'let's see if we can make people happier by making their food less poisonous' as opposed to the kooks that think things like 'let's not tell people the air at ground zero is poisonous because then bin Laden will be even more satisfied with the results'.

    We'll keep our kooks, you keep yours and we will both be happy. I hope.

    McDonalds got sued for serving extremely hot coffee that they had been warned many times could injure someone. They choose to ignore the warnings and continued to serve coffee much hotter than it needed to be, which was probably convenient for them. Personally I am glad they got their ass kicked for their hubris.

    Of course there is, the brain is a pleasure seeking mechanism, in fact it can be argued that all effort is mediated in the brain for the purpose of seeking pleasure, learn about it. Drug users simply take a shorter route to pleasure, however damaging in the long run it may be.

    So let's put them in jail, support them for a large part of their lives, give criminals an easy way to make money, ruin millions of lives in a bogus war, loose the tax on consumption... no, you are the illogical one. As for answering each and every point in detail there is no point, the willfully ignorant have no interest in learning anything.

    Are you paying attention? No one "got" him to make the ad, he did it himself on his own initiative. Oh I know, it was a conspiracy, yep.

    I think you are making my point. OK, the corn is eaten by cows, but then we eat the cows and drink their milk. Thus the cost of meat (beef, pork, anything else that eats corn) will climb. In Mexico the cost of tortillas has reportedly quadrupled.

    It seems to me that what this will come down to is "We've got money, let's buy up all the cheap biologicals and turn that into fuel". The cheap biologicals are what the poor eat, so we are about to make them even poorer. Not to mention that fact that soil and other biological systems require the input of dead biologicals to regenerate, they will be impacted as all biological refuse is turned into car fuel. This will go a long way toward degrading the biosphere.
