On that note, there seems to have been a number of "online peep shows" showing up lately. The only thing missing are sex toys with sensors and motors that one can plug into a USB port, so that one get physical stimulation to match the video and audio. I wonder how long before various developments in robotic "skin" and "muscle" will be used for this exact application...
Some, like the Australian Steve Keen, is working on creating actually testable theories and models. Thing is tho that modeling economies is a bit like modeling weather, as there are several feedbacks involved.
Goes further back then Hollywood. The first thing the young nation did was to give the middle finger to UK patents, allowing a industrial bootstrap not dissimilar to the one seen in China.
I do not think the bugs can be fixed, unless one is willing to basically turn the whole thing into the united states of Europe. The Euro may have worked as a cross-Europe trade currency, so that a factory in Sweden could sell its products and services to other companies in Europe in Euros rather then Swedish krona. But as the single coin of the whole EU, not possible unless the whole union is run like a single nation with the capitol in Brussels.
Younger people are easier to sway with populist promises of cheap booze and easy travel to the southern party spots. As people age i suspect most of them start to wonder if it is worth it, unless they manage to claw themselves into a prosperous financial position.
"Most EU citizens still have huge national pride but they can understand the power of a single economic bloc."
Perhaps while all EU was about was easing trade across national borders. But now that one member is basically dictating to others how they should run their nations, pride may well override reason (if there is much of that left in the EU system, it seems to run on monetarist/neo-classical orthodoxy more then reason right now).
What is interesting is how clearly the Euro troubles are exposing where the bodies are buried. Notice how the British prime minister basically employed the British veto right to protect the city of London from a financial transaction tax. And the whole issue can in part be traced to German use of frozen wages tariffs to keep their exports going, making one wonder if it is indeed a single market.
Do not both of those need a handshake with a server before playing? I seem to recall having issues with NWN when trying to set up a lan game once because of that.
Perhaps it is time to grasp that the US president is a figurehead/sockpuppet, and that the real power is behind the office. And there you find corporate interests, just as with the last one in the office. The only difference is that this time it is big IP (pharma/tech/entertainment) rather then MILIND.
Or more like "what they put up with" then "what they want".
Then again i also suspect that the "better horse" quote can rather be interpreted as lack of a means to describe what one want then actually wanting a better horse. When your trying to explain something that do not really exist yet, do you go with making up words or try to root it in existing words and objects?
Actually, Windows have ctrl+tab that changes sub-windows within a MDI program. But MDI have largely been abandoned for tabs and one window one file designs.
The term learned helplessness comes to mind. But i think MS and the rest do not mind, as that just means they can sell certifications and consultation hours.
Was it Copland that was set up so that to write a document you ripped (dragged) a blank sheet (file) from a pad (template)? Or was that Lisa? And the WIMP basics came out of Xerox Parc, complete with different icons for different file types, no?
I have long suspected that Apple at least uses those animations and such to hide the data loading, rather then present the user with a loading bar or some spinner.

I hope his blog can take being linked to on slashdot...
Germany got into their current position by basically freezing wages so that product prices stayed low.
Hollywood was actually set up to get away from the east coast and Edison's patents.

In essence, any metric with a economic impact will be gamed to hell and back.

What a mental image. Put a hellfire in there already...

I wonder how much "pressure" said government are under from US representatives to allow those trees...
Being Norwegian i am tempted to think of it as a partial recapture, as we still call it jul.

We all have our vices, some do not carry a legal offense charge tho.
So what is best, if we do not consider abstinence a option? Rare but large doses, or often but small?
I wonder if the kids had more of their "life" on the pad then the adults.

And this may well be why iOS is selling, like it or not for most of us here on /.
Then again, i do not mind if there is a easy interface to start out with. As long as there is a way to "pop the hood"...
More then one Admin have in full seriousness spoken about a internet drivers license.

Keyboard shortcuts are to be memorized for often used actions. And i think there is also a user customizable ribbon tab...
