I've used an external 911 Firewire drive since Panther came out. No problems with it.
Yes there was a bug with 911 but in contrast to the one with 922 it affected only a very small number of users (which is probably why they didn't acknowledge it).
They mean $4.8 billion, part of which is earmarked for salaries in the next quarter, part of which is for office space, maintainance, etc, part of which is for production of new units, part of which is for research and development
Wrong. That money is not for operating expenses. Apple usually earns 1-2 billion in revenue every quarter. That's what they pay those things with. The 4.8 bil is reserve that is supposed to sit there to earn interest. Besides not all of it is cash anyway, some is in investments.
VPC has a shared folders feature, which allows you to access your entire hard drive as a networked drive in Windows. I usually keep this off anyway, but, if VPC runs as root, could a virus/hacker conceivably infect and delete things outside the VPC drive file using that if it was enabled?

Need a fake SSN for your long distance service? (Really they don't need this) use 078-05-1120. It's an Eisenhower era specimen number that works 99% of the time.
LOL, it's not remotely close to over. Very few users regularly update their systems. How do you think SQL slammer was able to affect so many systems months after M$ fixed it?
Why did the submitter feel it necessary to post the link to the Iraq LUG on the Slashdot homepage?
Now they are just going to get a bunch of GNAA trolls signing up to spam them.
LOL! I phrased my post in the past tense because I was under the impression their licensing model was now more reasonable. From the post above mine I can see I was badly mistaken. That is just ludicrous.
They shot themselves in the foot with licensing. The Eiffel model and syntax is actually much more logical (and some would say better) than C and Java. But they made their compiler and dev kit obscenely expensive, while the others were free. I just don't see them ever recovering from that. C/Java type syntax has become the standard and switching to something completely different would be difficult.
The distance to the L2 point is about 4 times the distance to the moon. This distance is great enough that the moon could, at most, obstruct transmissions to only a small portion of earth. The telescope could also communicate with many satellites in geostationary orbit which could then relay signals to specific points on earth.
LOL! sorry about that. You may take my reply as directed at those same people.
The Mac doesn't have any software for it, it can't be any good.
Bullshit. OS X has over 10,000 apps, many of them equivalent to or even better than comparable Windows versions.

When I do that, as part of the output I get
... + more lines like this...
Server certificate
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
AiagAwIBAgIBADHRrVOVEGJ
-----END CERTIFICATE-----
However when I copy that portion to a file and try to import it, I get an error message.
It is only rated as being able to lift 16 ounces. Not nearly enough for a bomb.
That means you're three weeks behind the UK which is extremely unusual.
:)
No it isn't. The US is usually three weeks behind the UK at this time of year. But then we get to see the whole first half of the next one first.

LMAO! Too bad I just used all my mod points.
Up to almost $16,000 now.

I almost had a heart attack for a minute there.
What do you mean IdeaJ doesn't look right? I use it all the time and it is by far my favorite app for Java development.

LOL, not anymore.

I say we must redouble our efforts to get on this list
Hah, after what happened with Buzzsearch, I think I will pass.
OIT would probably do something inane like block all nonpriviliged ports.

The L2 point is beyond the moon. We currently do not have the capabilities to launch manned missions that far out.
Wow thanks. Great app. I just installed it.
I will refuse to visit any of these sites.
If ESPN does it, I'll get my sports info from CBS Sportsline. If CNN does it, my default news page will be Fox, etc.
If MSN does it, my default internet portal will be... oh wait I guess there's no problem there.
for at least including that article here (i submitted that earlier)
Yeah but there's always still people like the one who posted below you. :)
Yeah, I can't believe someone actually modded that insightful. :)
