Hmm. 85% of the time when I buy a drink at Starbucks it's a plain, grande coffee. And I have never gotten a dirty look from anyone. And this is at dozens of starbucks stores around the USA (I travel a lot).
No, you wouldn't have to charge the same fare. Metrocards are just debit cards. The subway costs $1.50, yes, but Express Buses to Staten Island from Manhattan are $3.00. You can pay for both with the same metrocard; the latter just debits $3.
so they're moving into charging subscription-based services, apparently to reduce the cost of their hardware relative to the rest of the market. The 4500 will replace the 40x0s.
Well I'm actually not sure about the difference between the 4500 series and the 40x0 series. The 40x0 and previous ReplayTVs (including the Panasonic Showstopper) do not have this activation fee.
Maybe the 4500 is their attempt to come in with a lower cost unit that... surprise! has an added charge??
What's your salary/the salary of the people that will have to build 60 boxes? How long will it take? Are you sure $600 + labor costs + no manufacturer support will be less than $1,000? If not, there's no business case to do it yourself.
This comes from a former Linux 'fanatic'. Why is it that Linux always seems to be about duplicating other OS's/tools? It seems like there's never any creativity...
* Checkbook programs that try to duplicate MS Money/Quicken
* Linux trying to duplicate UNIX
* KDE trying to look like Windows
* this handheld copying Palm OS as closely as possible
Is there ever any originality in Linux development?
'Many observers say that Linux has captured the efforts of the "alternative" developer set, drawing their talents away from Mac OS and other alternatives to Microsoft Windows. OS X Server does have something of an open source core, but it also has lots of proprietary Apple software on top.

Oh c'mon - not only is air travel safe, but it can be nice. And this is coming from a software consultant who hasn't been home for a full week since maybe December.
But truth be told, the best thing about business trips is staying in nice hotels (Marriott, of course - gotta love Marriott Rewards... Paris here I come) and getting lots of nice, free food.
Well, free for me, after I'm reimbursed.:)

Check out www.seatguru.com -- several airlines (i.e. AA) put power outlets in coach.
No comments and it's already hosed.
it's verisign, not verizon, that's doing this!
Your kids won't let YOU change the channel? What kind of parent are you, and what kind of kids are you raising?

Maybe the 4500 is their attempt to come in with a lower cost unit that
TiVo & UltimateTV, on the other hand, do have monthly fees (with a "lifetime" option you can pay up-front).

Assuming your an American, you're fairly ungrateful to the 'FBI pigs' that are trying to protect you and your family.
