  1. AC is deranged. Look, I'll make it simple for you. The people voted, and sorry to tell you, but YES, Clinton fucking won a plurality of the votes cast. DEAL WITH IT. That's what I'm doing. I'm not happy about it, but denying it is STUPID. Does it mean she won the election? Of course not. Everybody knows that.

Well, so far Homo sapiens has survived on the order of a million years on this "fragile" planet. Obviously the current exponential growth in population and consumption of material resources cannot continue for even 1000 years, but all that means is that our lifestyle WILL change markedly one way or another, and very probably our quality of life will be greatly reduced. But even if there is a mass die-off of 99-99.9% of the population, the species will continue. That goes even for the case of a catastrophic nuclear exchange or a catastrophic asteroid impact. Possibly the surviving form of Homo sapiens would be all but unrecognizable to us.

None of which is to be construed as an argument that we SHOULDN'T colonize extraterrestrial places. This, however, would not be effective analogs of lifeboats. That would be utterly impossible due to the scale. It would simply be a seeding.

The ACA has been a great blessing for some, and a crushing burden for many, many others. You don't know what the ACA would/will be replaced with. It is natural to be very wary about further screwing around, but it would be wise to reserve judgement until concrete plans crystallize. Something with arguably SOME good features might be replaced by something much better. I'll go out on a limb and suggest that's there's NO chance we're going to just go back to the status quo ante.

Look how nobody seems to care about the way Medicaid greedily and hungrily impoverishes old people before gathering them to its bosom of old-age care in their helpless years. I think that is just as massive a problem. Every single person who does not die prematurely gets old and decrepit. Not just some.
