Since I am reluctant to believe you have a small mind or are unwilling to consider relevant input, perhaps you might wish to reconsider your dismissiveness.

The relevant question before us is is whether the positive results or negative results would have more impact. Perhaps you could explain why a warming would be presumed to reduce ground water. That certainly does not appear to be a given, considering the amount of rainfall found in tropical rain forests.

Here's an idea. Not every goddam company has to be bought / merged with some fucking shark^H^H^H larger company. How the hell is it in the public interest for companies to go on endless buying binges? The logical end result is going to be THE COMPANY. Want a car? Buy it from THE COMPANY. A milkshake? THE COMPANY. No choice whatsoever; no competition.

And here's another thought. Company B does not have to be of comparable size to company A to compete with it in the marketplace.

And why does every company have to "grow" or be written off? You do realize that the logical end of every company growing exponentially is an absurdity.

It's not that clear cut. Yes, if you drive a diminutive car, you can't always control whether a massive behemoth lurches into you. But at the same time if you drive a large car, you can't control whether another car, large or small, lurches toward you and precipitates you making an evasive maneuver which ends up with you rolling over at literally breakneck speed.

Also, your visualization of defensive driving having only to do with visibility and nothing to do with maneuverability and stopping power seems limited.

Horse shit. That's completely subjective. I could say that Fox is center or barely right of center, the other commercial networks are ALL far left of center, and NPR is so far to the left it isn't even visible to human eyesight. All that means is you're going to get enraged at me for daring to see things differently than the conventional self-righteous banality, and I'm going to be upset with you you for failing to comprehend actuality.

Then we'll end up as dysfunctional as the US Congress. Let's skip that.

In reality, the "I've got mine, so screw you" attitude has nothing whatsoever to do with the false left-right dichotomy. It applies just as much to the gimme crowd who votes for tools who will seize and distribute handouts to him, not caring from where, as it does to the selfish billionaire bastard. In the real world, most people are neither. Most wealthy people contribute heavily to charity. Most of those who are not well off don't want anything seized from others and handed to them; they just want a real chance to do for themselves, and a recognition that their labor is not worth thousands of times less than that of CEOs and bankers.

Why would you assume that? It took me about 5 minutes of, yes, actually trying it out seriously the day Fedora 15 came out to find out numerous reasons why Gnome3 was not going to be satisfactory for my needs:

    1) NO GODDAM APPS MENU
    2) NO GODDAM TASKBAR
    3) Clock - cannot change position; cannot add day-of-week; cannot add seconds.
    4) No weather applet with current conditions, forecast, and radar map all right on the bar.
    5) No drawer applet for my own common app launchers, on the bar.
    6) No sensors applet for the bar.
    7) No CPU freq scaling monitor applet for the bar.
    8) No system monitor applet for the bar.
    9) No Mini Commander applet for the bar.
    10) Can't right click desktop to create launcher or start a terminal.
    11) Numerous other problems.

All of this stuff worked perfectly in Gnome2. So yes, if you don't ask it to do much of anything at all, and if you are satisfied with horrendously convoluted invocations for common tasks that used to be very straightforward, then yes, Gnome3 will satisfy you. Otherwise, not so much.

When most of that stuff gets fixed, I might switch to Gnome3. When ALL of it gets fixed, Gnome3 will be as good as Gnome2.
