I'm amazed that people are still so passionate about driving themselves to work and so vehemently opposed to public transit.... [ redacted ]
On top of it, a transit system done right... [redacted]
Key words... DONE RIGHT. Where I live, there is no single city center, and the city is very geographically spread out. Yet all the public transit is based on the assumption that everyone goes downtown in the AM, and home in the evening. You can't get from one business district to another without going downtown.
there are already commercial cell phone signal jamming devices that could be retrofitted to work inside the area of a typical civilian(non police) vehicle cabin. this could be required to be put into new vehicles or for a partial Faraday cage built into the cabin space of new vehicles to deal with this.
And preventing passengers from using a phone? As for the Faraday cage, what about the need to call 911 after an accident and you can't get out of the vehicle?
Even trained people (even I) have trouble just getting the average Linux distro to a basic, usable state, then updating it with typical software on occasion.
WTF is so hard about "sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get upgrade"?
And of course the wonderful systems that ask for all kinds of information and then you FINALLY get a human and they ask for all the same damn information AGAIN.
Yeah, I've tried saying that I just entered the info, and they say, "sorry".

When public transit fits my needs, I will use it.

And politicians wonder why they get less respect than the IRS.

The problem with a 150GHz machine is propagation delay.
A nanosecond is rougly 1 foot (30cm). .01ns (100GHz) is roughly 1/8 inch or 3mm.
Hi! It looks like you're trying to make a horror movie! Would you like some help?
It's been my personal experience* that 1 update cycle out of ten will break something and every upgrade will break at least two things.
And Windows Update will *NEVER* break anything.
If you're the sysadmin, you should know that.... GP claimed to be a sysadmin.

Just what we need... Killbots.
Dude, they rescheduled that for 12:30
Also, DSLReports shows me at 11600Kbps (11.6Mbps)
I'm assuming the remainder is protocol overhead. Remember, it's not just a raw bit stream. There's per-packet overhead, handshake, etc...
Don't forget endorsing bioterrrorism! (See the 10 plagues)
I'm gettting the full 12Mbps I'm paying for. My downloads range from 600KB/s to 1.2MB/s (12Mbps)

People in Kansas know that the Debian Package Dependencies were Intelligently Designed!!!
Having worked for a company that made its bread and butter off SBIR development, you're talking out of your ass.
It's probably not hooey.
DARPA tends to put blue-sky stuff like this into SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research). You'd be amazed at what comes out of these grants.
Disclaimer: In a previous job, I worked for a company that did work under SBIR.
I believe that the privileged frame in Newtonian mechanics is "absolute space". Whatever the hell meaning that has in an expanding universe.
Doesn't matter. The banks don't want to deal in fiddling small change.
