    I suspect keyboard obliteration is more common among older devs, who learned to touch type on a manual typewriter. For you young'uns, that's somehting that looks like an integrated keyboard/printer without a cord, CPU or monitor.

    In his novel, Voyage.

    Basically, back in '69, NASA decided on Mars instead of the Shuttle, and everything was sacrificed on the altar of Mars. The NERVA had a horrendous in-flight failure, so they had to go back to chemical, and they chose the Earth-Venus-Mars-Earth trajectory.

    I'm guessing he read the old documents on this.

    I'll bite. Because we can adapt our environment to us instead of the other way around. Because we can protect and allow the"weaker"* members of our species to propagate. These two factors mitigate against "survival of the fittest".

    * There is no judgement implied by in the term weaker.

    My wife has a Tobii with CEye. It takes a bit of getting used to, but since she can't speak or move her arms, it's a lifesaver when combined with Tobii's communicator suite.
