I've learned the other side is not evil, but not by watching biased news, but by actually talking to people on the other side and discussing their views and understanding why they believe them. I can disagree, but I can understand them. They can do the same with me. I am blessed to have open-minded friends all over the political spectrum. The thread isn't about hiring a designer, it is about selling an idea. This basically shows how they have no idea how the industry works. I find all the criticism to be valid. We all have ideas for great games. But you actually have to do something to be hired as a designer. I doubt they have the skills to do anything in XNA or they would already have done it.
Competition is fierce and with Apple's insane policies you don't even know if they will allow your app to see the light of day. The market is already flooded by pros (not to mention tons of amateurs). It might be a good way to build a resume...but your odds of making money off the deal are extremely low.
How surprising, when comparing games in the same genre, you find similar games! You really have figured out how to solve all of the industries problems!

RPGs take on difficult decisions or uncomfortable situations quite often. Why not in FPS's? Blame our culture for that. We have no moral qualms destroying Nazis, but what if they make a game about killing Israelis? What if they took "risks" and told "the other side". It would be art! I would be fantastic! And it also would either sell poorly or be banned by the stores that would sell it.

A DVD costs what? Like $12 to $20? Games these days are $50 to $60. I imagine the theft rate would be a lot higher for their products.

Someone may go back and play some simple game over and over again, but do they remember anything? When you play a game with an ending, particularly if it is challenging or has an engaging story, you enjoy it and feel like you accomplished it. Games without story give you a high score...ooh, and now you can share that high score on Facebook! How memorable.
Now I am not trying to say games without endings aren't fun, I am just saying that endings have always been an important part of many games, and I don't know how you forgot that.
And I have no clue where you get your weird idea that things need to be made with a childish mind. Making a game is hard. Making a game fun for the most number of people as possible is even harder. They also make Diablo and WoW, which are different series completely. None of these did people say "Wow, they should have just stopped." From a personal perspective, I loved the story in Starcraft and am going to enjoy seeing the continuation of that. Unless you hate all Blizzard games or RTS's, you are going to be excited about this. If not, you should probably hand in your gamer card and keep the kids off your lawn.
Worked fine for me. The installer is the same as the patcher, so how you could get it to install and not patch is beyond my level of comprehension. Sounds like you are either making this up or are not capable of managing your firewall.
