There are so many things that taint this survey. How many of them are telling the truth? Maybe GI is the magazine to go to if you love the PS3/Wii and hate the 360. Maybe the 360 is played a lot more than the other consoles. Maybe 360 owners are dumb and don't understand how ventilation is important. Maybe they are comparing MS's failure rate on the earlier version to all versions of the other consoles. There are too many variables not pinned down to take this survey seriously. We already know the 360 has an unreasonable amount of failures. This survey doesn't really tell us anything new or significant.
Well, there's your problem. Your summary sucks and was inaccurate. So I guess sometimes the editors do read submissions! Go Slashdot! 3.8% said they wouldn't buy another xbox after all the problems. That's pretty impressive. You had it backwards.
You've obviously never seriously fought in any wars. Designing for the PC means dumbing down the combat with unrealistic physics and click and shoot aiming. All PC gamers are pussies.
Do you see how dumb you sound? I have played FPS competitively (and done quite well) and still enjoyed playing the halo series. Yeah, KB+mouse is what I prefer...but I don't run off labeling people who like console FPS's. You just come off like some nutso screaming at a town hall meeting.
It isn't presented as such, but essentially that is what it is. What you do is PvP as well. You are competing against others in the market to sell the products of your R&D.
The only PvE in the game is mission running and complexes. They are extremely repetitive. Even worse than collect 10 hooves. You do the same missions over and over again. Oh no! Bob Evil must be killed. You come back after killing Bob Evil and collect your reward. Oh no! Bob Evil must be killed! Or even worse, please deliver this thing a half hour away and then come back. Oh joy!
So yes, there is PvE in Eve, but it is by far the worst PvE content I have ever seen in any MMO.
If you fail to see the difference between the two pictures, then I have to question your intelligence.
But that isn't even the issue. If a private company takes down a photo, it is their right. If the government ordered it, that would be different story. You guys need to use your brains sometimes instead of the blind zealotry.
Well, to be fair, Bush starter a war that killed at least tens of thousand innocent people based on false pretenses. I think that is a fairly negative thing to do.
The problem with drawing comparisons with Obama's policies and Hitler's is that it makes you look like a freaking idiot. As much as you don't like Obama, he is not trying to round up people in concentration camps and commit genocide. Every other civilized nation has govt. healthcare, why aren't you talking about how those leaders brought it to their country? Pointing it out is, as you say, irrelevant. So why point it out? Because it serves and underhanded political purpose. It is intellectually dishonest and is stirring up some really dangerous feelings in deranged people. And apparently there a lot more deranged people out there than I thought.
Uh, no, it isn't. It would be an issue if the White House told flickr what it could and couldn't show. As far as all those sites are concerned, they are just very popular users.
Yeah, the reason why your hear is pounding is because you don't want to lose a month of work. Not because the fight system is engaging or interesting. Just lock on, hit F1-F6 then orbit the thing while watching your shield and armor. It is probably the most boring combat system you could possibly come up with in space.
And most PvP consists of you sitting at a gate, 10 to 1ing some poor guy who pops through. And PvP is the best part of Eve. Saying it has PvE is being extremely generous.
Uh, no. A gamer is someone who plays games. I self identify as a gamer yet still play for 3 soccer teams and an orchestra. I have a job that pays well and I have no problem with relationships. It doesn't matter if I have less time now to game than when I was a kid, or if I have a kid of my own and have even less time. I will still enjoy playing games when I get the chance. Video games are not even close to the most important thing in my life. But I do find them fun. I would classify you as a gamer as well.
I actually agree with the GP. The apps that I got to see on my friend's iPhones make me really want to get one. I won't go to AT&T though. But hopefully they will come out with a 4G phone on Verizon's LTE network. I would buy it for sure.
I can confirm that you can do this. I saw someone do it a month ago for a friend. It is pretty cool and bizarre to me why it isn't just unlocked for everyone.
I think you replied to the wrong post. Anyways, I disagree. The iPhone (which I don't own but have messed around with since everyone has one) is quite a capable little gaming machine. I agree it lacks the precise control to play certain types of games, but I would argue that is the same with the Wii. It lends itself to different types of games. Considering I know people who develop games for the iPhone and how much those games have exploded on to the market, to discount the iPhone as a gaming device is naive at best and biased at worst. Probably the most fun I have had gaming in awhile was the times my friend let me play geo defense on his iPhone.
No, he read the summary. You read his post but failed to comprehend it. He isn't saying that they aren't looking at multiple phones individually. He is saying that you should add up all the different phones that nokia sells with all the phone Apple sales to get a real comparison. Since Nokia sells a lot of different models, it is natural for Apple (which sells very few models) to have a model come out high on the list.
Well, I know him irl, and he isn't a fanboy, so your first concern is false. And are you trying to say Bungie is a small game company that no one knows about? So you are saying Bungie would be better off on the Mac? How much money would Halo 3 make if it was a Mac game? How much did it make for the 360? Yeah, don't bother ever trying to get in to business.
It is ironic that you would call someone else a fanboy when it is pretty clear you are biased.
Reading all these comments make it pretty obvious that I don't want anyone on Slashdot making games. Actually, it really doesn't matter because no one would play your game. If one class is a whole lot better than another class at dealing damage and that is there major role, no one is going to play that other class. The idea that if you play your class well, you should be contributing a reasonable amount to downing a mob. If you get rid of the balance, you have everyone playing the same class and people quitting your game because you have no idea how to balance.
The problem with your question is...how many people want to be the guy who is weaker than everyone else? Pretty much no one. It is a dumb idea.
Umm, no. What you made something that is fun for one person and sucks for someone else. In any case, even if it sucks, people will all play that class because who wants to be limited to being 4 times weaker than something else. I think fighting still makes sense. To become powerful, you have to practice. To practice, you go and fight things. You aren't born a mage ready to kill a dragon. You probably have to zap a few vicious rats first to be ready to take on a bear.
So, in other words, your twitch skills suck and you want a game that favors (what you believe) are your strong points.
Magic is a completely different genre. Cards are not made to be balanced. They are made to get you to buy more packs in hope of getting the best cards. There is LESS strategy involved since not everyone has access to every card. But, if every one had access to every card, that would be equivalent to having classes being balanced in an MMO. But beyond that, you then need to know how to use your skills and also need to know how to move. It is still strategy, but it is in real time. Not only do you have to think strategically, you have to adapt to different situations. The fact that you aren't good at that isn't a problem with the game. It just means you like or are better at a different type of game.
I really don't think you have thought about this very hard. With classes, you balance the specific abilities of a class against another. When there is no class, you have to balance every possible skill configuration with every other possible skill configuration. The concept of tanks, dps, and healers is not going to go away. Particularly with fantasy MMOs. It makes a lot of sense that you don't want your mage wearing his soft roles to be up front getting beat on. It's like saying resource gathering in RTS's is killing creativity. Or guns in FPS's is ruining creativity. The "holy trinity" is part of what defines a fantasy MMO.
Uh, this is Slashdot. If anything, it has conservative leanings. Really, Libertarian, which has things in common with both sides, but tend to come off as more conservative on this issue. So I really doubt he is pandering...probably trolling. If you wanted to pander to the left, you would be posting on digg.
Uh, Dems really don't. The number may be 60, but not all of those can really be considered Democrats. Unless it is ok that they talk and back a Republican candidate during the RNC.
Maybe protocol droid software was open source? :)
Uh, many of these people were the ones who had RROD failures. You can read and write, now try to comprehend.

What does this have to do with the story at all?
If you fail to see the difference between the two pictures, then I have to question your intelligence.

Uhh, you are delusional. It doesn't matter if "Other OS" is there or not. People are going to try to hack it. And eventually they will.
I actually agree with the GP. The apps that I got to see on my friend's iPhones make me really want to get one. I won't go to AT&T though. But hopefully they will come out with a 4G phone on Verizon's LTE network. I would buy it for sure.

WoW is designed around PvE first. Guild Wars is designed around PvP first. That's fundamentally the difference.
