Right now we don't have a BO problem. We have an economy that is failing. You may have an opinion on a solution that differs from BO. But it is hard to know if what he is doing is wrong or right since economic policy is extremely complex even for economists.

What you say makes sense but really isn't the whole issue. The real problem is that consumers aren't consuming because they are worried about losing their job and not having more work (or just worried because the markets are so uncertain). If a bunch of jobs are created that really don't offer any value, that may not actually matter. All it needs to do is give people a little more confidence so they start spending and investing again. Once that happens, there will be more demand for things that people are spending on thus creating more jobs...which makes people feel more comfortable spending...which creates more jobs, etc. So really, it may not matter what the heck these jobs are...it just needs to make people comfortable enough to spend again. Jobs with no value will eventually go away. Obviously, better to create jobs with value...but if a few are created that are questionable, who really cares as long as it helps consumers gain some confidence.

  5. Re:Number of reasons to make a console difficult on Sony Makes It Hard To Develop For the PS3 On Purpose · · Score: 1

The Wii is selling so well for a lot of reasons that have nothing to do with "fun games". The Gamecube games were just as fun but it finished worldwide in 3rd. It is a stupid cliche that graphics != a good game. It should be obvious as well that graphics != a bad game either. But if you have two equally fun games, you are going to pick the one with better graphics. Also, if graphics are done poorly, it will ruin the experience making it less fun.

The Wii is doing as well as it is simply because its controller is new and interesting. The games aren't any better, the controls are just new and the console was cheap. Thus people are buying them because it became trendy. Most people I know don't touch their Wii anymore (ahh, the jokes write themselves). Many people find the controller to be more of a gimmick after awhile as more and more shovelware is dumped on to the Wii since people don't know how to make a decent game on it and lots of people have one. That being said, for as many consoles it has out there, it does a poor job of selling games.

So to say that the Wii is doing well because its games are more fun is a bunch of baloney. It is a lot more complex than that. Personally, I am glad there is competition. The Wii doesn't have the power to do cutting edge graphics and AI. It is good there are other companies that still are trying to push the envelope a little. I hope they continue to do so. I'd hate to see everyone go the Nintendo model of just releasing slightly upgraded hardware each release. But it is good to have a Nintendo so that you have a cheaper, quality option.

And whenever they do take a step in the right direction, all the hardcores whine because it is catering to the "WoW" crowd. These people want to make the game more complex just to make it harder for other people to understand. Not to make a better game or more interesting. They have figured out everything else in the game so making it more complex is in their favor. It is essentially a way for them to stay more powerful than newer players. After you learn how to hit F1-F6 (wow, really complex, I bet you pat yourself on the back for mastering Eve) it is all about fitting your ship and fulfilling a role within the group you are PvPing with. But all the PvE content to earn ISK is boring. Even blowing stuff up is mind blowingly dull in Eve. That's my point. It isn't fun. How can you make blowing stuff up boring? Eve managed to do it.

I can handle the harshness of the Eve forums just fine. But not all people are bitter assholes like yourself. Some people would like to play Eve but your awful community turns them away. This guarantees that Eve will always be the nichiest of niche games. But I think that is what your personality type likes. The real content of the game is only accessible to the hardcore who want to get in to the PvP and corporate spying sort of things. I am exaggerating a bit, but that is essentially Eve. They make you log in to change your skills rather than actually letting you queue them...which is dumb. Massive PvP happens rarely. The narrative that drives evolutionary thought is that there is no God

Garbage. Evolution is about science. It is about explaining and understanding our history using the scientific method. Just because it doesn't agree with the Bible doesn't mean it was designed to prove there is no God. The fact that the Bible fails to be scientific isn't surprising. It was written by story tellers, not scientists. Your religion and science can still exist...just not in something overly literal from the Bible.

The problem with "debating" with people like you is you are completely invested in your side being right. You can be provided counter evidence but you will simply dismiss it without even considering it. I am assuming this is why the GP has the "fuck off" attitude. You don't care about facts or truth or science, you only care about being right because you have completely invested in your flavor of religion being right. Reading the bible and only authors that are biased to your same opinion isn't going to broaden your understanding or ability to actually debate. I mean, to actually criticize evolution as having logical leaps to believe and then believe in religion borders on the absurd. The theory of evolution has gone through peer review and passes the test of science. Religion has nothing to do with fact or science and so comparing the two is like comparing apples to unicorns.
