I don't think it is a big deal. If you had fun playing the game, then what are you complaining about? If you viewed it as work, then why are you playing the game? So some people get to level faster now through the lower levels and get to ride on a zebra. Who cares? It doesn't effect the end game, it just allows the people who have leveled to 70 a million times a way to do it faster. I don't really think it is a great idea...but from the business side of things, it is pretty brilliant.

You don't know what you are talking about. Travel times in WoW are much shorter than pretty much any of its predecessors. And as time has gone by, travel times have become even shorter with all the portals in Shattrath. Mages have the ability to crate town portals. Warlocks have the ability to summon. Instances have stones outside that you can use to summon people there. Have you even played the game?

IP does not make the game, otherwise Final Fantasy 11 would have been just as, if not more, popular.

Comparing WoW to Diablo is ridiculous. It is like comparing counter strike to bejeweled. It is not the same genre.

And WoW does require twitch skills...not for PvE as often, but certainly for PvP. While a lot of it is gear dependent, twitch skills can make a huge difference between two equally geared opponents. Diablo (which I love as well) is about as dumbed down as a game can get. It requires virtually no twitch and is just a mindless click fest. It is completely dependent on build and gear.

I don't care if you like WoW or not...but you should at least have played it so you can know what you are talking about. And if you did, you missed the point completely...because it doesn't seem like we are playing the same game.

The reason WoW did well is that it was released more polished than any MMORPG. It took a hardcore genre and made it accessible to everyone. It made leveling, and yes, travel time less of an issue. You can actually solo all the way to the top level...that was novel compared to most other games of the time. It removed annoying crap like harsh penalties to death. The IP helped them have an initial fan-base. But it was the quality of the game that made it so popular.

The one thing I have learned from going back and playing D2 is that Blizzard borrows a lot of things from their other games. Actually, I think WoW is more closely related to Diablo than Warcraft (gameplay-wise). I see nothing wrong with them taking stuff that they did in WoW and applying them to their other games. They seem to do a great job of applying what they learn from one game series to another.

It's nice to see well-thought out posts rather than just fanboy/anti-fanboy rants.

I just wanted to state one thing. I am sure you are aware that one point in time WoW had a class that wasn't available to both factions (i.e. Shamans and Paladins). With the expansion, they abandoned this. Why? Simply because of balance. In PvE, some bosses were made much easier for one faction than the other. In PvP...well, just think about it. It is hard enough to balance classes with each other...how difficult will it be when each faction is different? Balancing this game will be hell. If they can pull it off, I will give them serious kudos. But the game isn't out yet..so it seems pretty dumb to try to compare it to WoW.

There seems to be this cycle of people spewing venom about WoW when a new MMO is about to come out and how much better it is going to be. They a few months later they all come back to WoW because they just aren't able to pull off something that keeps people's attention as much.

I say this as someone who has quit WoW multiple times. Not out of anger, just because I got bored with it. I go out and play a bunch of other games, then come back because it is fun again. And you actually see how much content they stick in there when you leave for a little while. After the expansion came out, I played my character to 70 and did a bit of EG content. When I came back a few months ago, I didn't know what the heck was going on they added so many things. Funny, you don't notice as it comes gradually...but when you leave for awhile, you see really how much they do.

Playing an FPS online isn't a chore, you are playing because of the gameplay...but people still use bots and find ways to cheat. You claim that you weren't speeding but you come off as a complete egocentric jackass so it wouldn't surprise me if you are self delusional. There are bad cops, but I know a whole bunch and they would rather not pull people over if they don't have to. Why? Because they are putting their lives on the line every time they do. They have NO IDEA that you are unarmed or if you are deranged or not.

You have no proof that the guy has said a lie. He was speaking about himself...do you know him? No? Then you aren't qualified to tell us if he is telling the truth.

It was debatably an armed robbery, since the cop had a visible gun strapped to his hip when he robbed her. Now, not only did the offending officer commit a serious crime. The other officer that was having coffee with him ALSO committed serious crimes. He also accepted the eventual bribe from the restaurant manager, but he also was an accomplice in the original robbery.

Oh really? You disgust me. Because the cop has a gun, it is armed robbery? How stupid can you possibly be? So your wife was naive and didn't know that the management has a policy not to charge cops. When they got a bill, they let her know that they aren't normally charged. When she told a manager, she told your wife that she was wrong and ripped up the check. Boohoo! How the hell is that armed robbery? The cops weren't threatening to shoot anybody. I understand why businesses have these policies. They are less likely to be robbed if there are cops in their establishment. But if they don't do this, guess what? The cops aren't going to come back and rob them! I go to a bar where I know the bartender. I get certain perks (like a cheaper bill). Is this robbery? You are clueless.

The real problem is that you are stereotyping people. This makes you no better than a racist. I suggest you try to get to know some cops. You will find out that they are normal people that have a very difficult job.
