I saw Steve at the BigAndroidBBQ here in Austin, TX, earlier this month, and had a chance to speak with him in person, one on one. I also professionally work with one of the members of TeamDouche.
While Steve did say that they currently had no info on when/if they would release ICS , CM development is alive and well.
Buy a G2, root/unlock, install Cyanogenmod 7.0 (Gingerbread/2.3), or anyoneof the other Gingerbread ROMs. You can buy a G2 from here: http://swappa.com/buy/htc-g2-t-mobile - there's currently six listings, from $335 to $410, and all of them are rooted. The phone should work in the UK, too.
I have the same phone, running CM 7.0 (nightly 38), and I love it. I had the original G1 until recently, and it's a night and day difference. I firmly believe the G2 will suit your needs and more.
I like the changes, you don't. It may take more work (one more click, a little more mouse movement), but I like the fact that, to me, moving windows to different workspaces offers better window management than minimizing.
Sounds a lot like an iPhone 4 and the Macbook Air. I work for an authorized Mac sales and service center; our Mac specialist had to use a heat gun to take the screen/glass off on a Macbook Air. Research for the iPhone 4 returns similar needs.
Running Ubuntu 10.10 with a gnome-shell build from the git repository, and I have to say, I love the change. The minimize and maximize functions themselves are not gone; as the summary says, you can still double click the title bar to maximize. If you want to minimize, you can right-click the titlebar, then click minimize, or using ALT+F9.
I think this is a great design change. In Gnome 2.0 and less, like windows, you would minimize windows to make room/less clutter for windows you're actually using at that top. Now, instead of minimizing, a better method is to move it down a screen (right-click, move to workspace down), or zoom out to activity view, drag the screen from one screen to another. I find when I have a lot going on -- multiple browser windows, terminals, ftp client -- I use this a lot. It comes in handy being able to separate each website you're working on, each server, into it's own workspace, free from intrusions and other unrelated stuff.
Good job Gnome devs!

Glad I closed it; good riddance. It is a cesspool of narcissism.
News like this makes me smile that I decided to use Gentoo Hardened 64-bit nomultilib whenever I built servers. Makes it harder if the software needed to run is only available as 32-bit binaries, but I haven't run into any yet that I've needed.
Since it has no 32-bit emulation layer, this is probably one of the few 64-bit linux not affected (without a patch).
I don't mean to debunk anecdotal evidence with more of the same, but I have a Lexmark z2940 wireless printer here that I just setup to use wireless: downloaded the drivers (running Windows 7), installed them, plugged into the USB cable when prompted to so it could configure the wireless, joined my wireless network with my key, unplugged the USB cable when prompted, then finished the setup. Prints fine using wireless.
Except for the fact that the ink cartridges are either empty or dried up...
People die, life moves on. Detailing her daily life so that you can remember everything will keep you from doing that. Instead, make a log of your important memories with her, and work on making new ones that you and her can cherish for the rest of her life.
I don't really see how any form of pool malfunction could possibly damage a neighbor's property,
Pools without gates tend to kill small children. Also pools without double drains tend to suck the innards out of people. Those are two things are usually required and checked as a part of the permit process.
You know what kills small children? Parents not keeping an eye on them. Gates/fences around a pool are for home owners who have irresponsible neighbors.
Pools without double drains? My grandmother has an 30+ year old in-ground pool that only has one drain, and in all the years I swam in it, I never once had my "innards" sucked out. The single drain was at the bottom of the deep end in the center. Maybe the pools with only one drain aren't designed properly?
Truth is, you are just another liberal sado masochist
Truth is you're just a self centered prick who does get the point of civilization.
Wait, I can turn it around on you, too!

Where's Slashdot with the "like" button that Facebook has? Ok, I kid.... maybe.
I have a similar setup. For the past 2-ish years, I've been using a regular desktop hooked up to my 480p TV (EDTV) with component cables. I currently have 7.1 speakers hooked to the sound card. I use a wireless keyboard/joystick mouse combo (BTC 9019URF3 - discontinued model) that has a handle on each side, with buttons for left, right, middle mouse buttons, and 2 buttons to simulate scrolling with a wheel (up/down). Internet is plugged in via an integrated NIC.
When it comes to entertainment, it's the ultimate freedom setup.
I say "fuck you" to your moral objection. Color blindness is a disability. It may not be anywhere near as serious as being handicapped, missing an appendage, or say, a whole eye, but it does cause problems nonetheless.
In high school, a Brazilian by the name of Diego (go Diego, go!) came to America via the foreign exchange program and started at our high school. He didn't speak much English when he got there, but by the end of the first year, he was throwing insults and having all most complete conversations. Just goes to show that complete immersion into a culture is the best way to learn it's language. No, I don't know if he learned any English before he came to the U.S.
It's prudent to note that Avira anti-virus used to be called "AntiVir"...but I'm pretty certain you're not talking about the same people..
Right. There's a rogue called AntiVir as well.
Nowhere near as annoying as the "heck with it, just backup and OSRI"-worthy "Internet Security 2010", however.
Internet Security 2010 is not OSRI-worthy. It can be removed in as little as 15 minutes, with the right tools, but usually other malware is on the PC when this or other fake security software is present, which does mean it is sometimes more cost-effective to do a wipe (backup first!) and reinstall.
Yes. The biggest scam is soap. And antibacterial soap.
Washing your body with soap gets rid of important bacteria, which upsets the balance of your skin, and causes odor. The next time you take a shower/bath, try scrubbing with a clean, wet cloth. No soap. No shampoo or conditioner.
I haven't used soap, shampoo, or hair conditioner in 3 days, and I have no smell, my hair is healthier than ever, and my skin is no longer dry/scaly. I take showers to wash off the extra sweat/oil on my skin, but I only use a wet cloth. Read this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-477378/Six-weeks-wash-The-soapless-experiment.html - the woman went 6 weeks without washing, even if it's just a quick run under the shower.

Three letter TLDs are fine; use .sec, not .secure, if you're really going to do this.
You are unlikely to care about Android Movie Market. So what's the problem?
I certainly don't care.
I jumped ship when Gnome3 was a pain in the ass to get work on Ubuntu 11.10 (without it crashing constantly).
Went to Arch and haven't been happier. Gnome2 is being phased out in favor of Gnome3 in Arch.
Viva la Gnome Shell!

I said that she had to use a heat gun to take off the screen/glass on the Macbook Air. I never said she didn't have manuals (she does).
It's easy enough to call people names.

Like the article says, a heatgun did the trick.

"used to"? It still is: http://www.free-av.com/en/products/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html - and the premium version, clearly labeled, "Avira AntiVir Premium", is sold in the shop I work.

And yes, IAAPCT.
I was talking about inline 6's. I made no mention of engines with more cylinders. Nice straw man.
