    What you are proposing is installing an operating system that is completely foreign to them. The software that they already own has been untested on it. It may or may not work. The availability of future software titles that run natively is also limited. Neither the kids nor the teachers have any experience with it. And to top it off, you even point out that you can't really support it like you should. Sounds like a great plan!

    He never suggested install Windows Vista.

    Obviously Microsoft does not have the intellectual capacity to come up with their own ideas, ergo, they have to revert to 'stealing' open-source ones.
    XAML is MS embrace and extended XUL, they'll be add full png support to their browser next! petition MS financially support Mozilla Foundation, it's main source of innovative idea!

    ~30MB RAM on a text editor
    Seven tabs open (ext) 16MB. Jedit is also stable I leave it running for months. Began using it because big multi-lang projects in Vim were difficult and Jedit validates all XML.

    BBedit looks nice but only for really for web devel and wit so many free (beer) text editors and html editors I'm curious how popular is it?

    If Apple were to start contributing to the Gimp with a view to replacing PS, Adobe would pull photoshop. If Apple doesn nothing then they are pretty much relying on Adobe for good percentage of their market. Good business decision by Adobe, be intresting see how Apple respond to this.
