I started learning 3D animation using Maya. I even modified my GeForce3 card into a Quadro DCC (basically resoldiered two resistors to change the id of the board). Didn't make much of a difference though.
However I have done quite a bit of research, and the only power house I would want is one of them new SGI workstations. All these various video cards have their good points and bad points, but they still cost a good penny.
Now ATI came out with the 9700 Pro, which is the best card for gaming, but does horribly at rendering (mainly due to drivers). Not too far afterwards they released the FireGL Xl1. This card is quite expensive (over a grand), but my thought is if the 9700 Pro is so awesome at gaming, I wonder how this card will do at rendering performance versus the Quadro4 980 XGL. As it stands, you can get a 900 series Quadro4 for a tad more than $500.
My big question is.... how will it compare to the WildCat cards?:)
Think about how many people receive emails with links inside them... and click them and get a frameset with the top from MSN saying "You are visiting a site outside of hotmail...." yadda yadda.... good way to capture your email addresses and all. Anyways, everyone I know who has a hotmail account has had a ton of spam.. one guy I know stopped using it because of that. I personally like Yahoo! Mail... more space and less spam... though I still get some there as well, but you will always see some amount of spam.
All I know is when I saw the actual product, after all the hype, I just kinda stood there and thought... ok, what's the big deal.
So did all my co-workers.
Needless to say, I am not at all shocked that they are not doing that well. I dunno about the rest of you, but I cannot afford 5 grand for a powered wheely machine... and if I did have that much money laying around, that would be the last thing I would purchase.
There might have been some influence from Apple. But then again look at how many PCs and the such have had influence from Apple.
Point being, its a nice looking unit. I just wonder how it will feel holding that thing while playing a game.
That is what I was told too. A buddy of mine asked me to link his site on mine so it would increase his chances in Google.
I kept modifying my site to be 'spider' friendly, but it still has my old stuff cached.
Now it does not show anything at all. I thought Google also checked to see how often the site was modified?
Whistling is a new one. I know of one person who put the dial tone for a disconnected phone number on his answering machine (pretty much a telezapper). So when the computers called his house, and the answering machine picked up, that tone would sound, and the computer would label him as a disconnected phone number.
I also hear if you hit the '#' button repeatedly, that also blocks the calls.
Either way its nice to see something useful from the government. Hopefully it will help some.. but I agree, there are always loopholes.
It sounds like a pathetic attempt for money basically. I agree with Gabe_Garza, the smaller
web site retailers are going to be effected by
this. How many of us go to these sites to get
stuff that you cannot find easily? I shop at a
few smaller web-based retailers cause they sell
items I normally cannot find on amazon (or its
much cheaper.) Now with this, I'd hate to see them have to close down or be effected by this
crap...
I also think people are just bored these days,
so hey... let's be a bunch of cheap morons and sue...yeah yeah!...:(

Wow, my grandmother told me that tip for hiccups a LONG time ago. She told me to breath in, tilt my head back, and drink. It always worked for me, until recently.
Now I just breathe in enough air to really fill my lungs in and wait. It usually works. My thought on this was the lungs, being so full of air, hold the diaphragm down (so the contraction is not as major), and it will cause the spasms to stop.

I just think its cool how the thing was baked and it still works. Apple's PCs might be the fastest on the market, but they do a really good job on the casing!:)

They should use all those CPUs and make a render farm... then benchmark it and see how it works...heh.. :P
