Now *that* would be an informative Reuters headline.

How about a story from theregister? Took me a while to find this, but...Broadband = porno: World's biggest Luddite

Quote from story: So there you have it. South Korea is the number one broadband nation thanks to porno.

But its not mentioned in the article (unless I missed it in my quick glance).

Don't you have a find feature in your browser that searches a page for term(s)?

And you're right - it wasn't mentioned. I regularly maintain less than 1GB of free space on my 20GB HD, even with all the removing and adding of files. If I notice sluggishness, I defrag and my computer is back to its normal self.

I guess defrag isn't classified as "spring cleaning". Maybe it's just a "utility".

At the risk of sounding like someone who feeds trolls and replies to flame-bait,

I'm glad you took the risk, because I feel the same way. I wish more people would realize how exactly it affects the industry and what they are doing when they use P2P services.

Think of it this way - when you choose not to purchase CDs and instead download the songs for free, you are inadvertently 'boycotting' the artist. Now, I don't know how well boycotts work, but their intention is to shut down their target. Do you want your favourite artist to go golfing instead of producing music?

Not to assume or suggest that all fiction should have a point or a message/moral to it, but all fiction has the power to inspire us or make us question reality/society/etc.

For sure. I think that's one of the reasons that authors (and other creators of fiction) do what they do - to put something out that rattles the brain.

if you take something away from a work of fiction (or film, or recording, or game) then you will be all the better for it.

To add to that, why else would you delve into a work of fiction? So that you can look "cool" or brag about it? If you're not taking something from a work of art, then you've wasted your time.

Apparently the FBI needs to learn what a compiled binary is, it must have been really hard for them to understand what all those funny characters were.

So I guess in Canada we have similar law enforcement. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) can catch MafiaBoy, but they won't get rid of their horses.

I'm sorry, but how hard is it to track a worm that goes into an IRC channel.

It depends on what kind of information is being passed, if any, through an IRC channel. The worms could have easily made DCC (Direct Client-to-Client) connections to other worms. DCC only requires a server connection to initiate. If the server dies, the DCC connection continues to stay alive.
