These kids are going to be totally left behind by the daily innovations in basic math and Algebra with their static etexts. Why, quite often Algebra Science is stood on its ear by decisions of the courts. Just a few years ago Alabama sought to upset Euclid and legislate that Pi was exactly equal to three. There's no way these tablets can be kept current with modern jurisprudence.
And then there's the Hubble constant, which we all know gets edited every year to re-explain the observations.
Or maybe you could just not be such a freaking retard. The above text (in case you didn't know) is sarcasm. That I have to call that out makes me want to (not talk to) you all. You may insert into (not talk to) whatever remediation technologies you prefer, as long as they involve acid, ballistic weapons, or a freaking flamethrower.
The India government is looking to deliver K-12 education to a half billion kids in the next decade, if they can get Android tablets at $40 each. I wish them luck. Right now the price point is $128 for a 7" tablet. The education is, of course, free - thanks to the diligent work of Michael Hart (may he rest in peace!)
Public safety officials tend to be conservative with unknowns. This debris was not that far offshore and directly downwind from three nuclear meltdowns with considerable airborne release of radioactive material. People should use due care when interacting with it.
OK, that was neat. It's in the repository so you just type backuppc in the software center on Ubuntu and it's up and running in about one minute. Never installed a backup server that easily before.
Was expecting somebody to mention BackBlaze. If you store all your household precious data on one computer's share and back it up with BackBlaze at $4 a month, that's going to be cheaper than any other answer on here. Those guys are brutally efficient. If you google "Backblaze box" you'll see how they manage to turn a profit at those rates and it's amazing - and they give the design away too.
There is really no way of stopping new prorietary technologies from gaining traction on the web or keep them from being ported to the web as they gain momentum elsewhere,
For me Facebook is a PR site. I would never put things there, or associate with people there under my right name that could be anything but positive. I don't know why people do that. If I wanted to let it all hang out on Facebook I'd get a nickname account and do it on that.
"The above text (in case you didn't know) is sarcasm."
What part of that got away from you?
Whoosh. Nothin' but net.

This might not be a bookmark.
Or maybe you could just "wing it" - for fun.
Well to be fair I don't think they're responsible for the use of child slaves to mine African conflict minerals. Not directly anyway. Yet.
And Microsoft is a big investor in Facebook. It's turtles all the way down.
This is going to not happen.
Oh wow, you're right. I remember reading initial reports expressing concern, but apparently NOAA has given the all clear. Never mind.

Public safety officials warn that Japanese tsunami debris washing up on Pacific shores may be radioactive.
Then you have issues. The story is pretty clear, and it's amazing.
Drama queen shoulda stuck with Bruce.
Obviously MPEG-LA is not the only entity with patents.

I'm a just leave this here.
Well I'm kind of tempted to develop a mobile slashdot app. Because on mobile /. is that bad.

Patents.
Wow. What did the phone cost?
Having put in numerous 90+ hour work weeks myself, sometimes over 100, I'm not so sure 60 is so terrible unless they are at it for too long.
Most of us who did college know how poor a filter it is.
