The Canon EOS 3 (and probably the 1V) had a feature whereby the camera would lock focus depending on where the eye was pointing while using the camera. These were both film cameras as well btw just to show how old this tech is.
Apple always have something cooking, maybe an update for maps is around the corner taking in this functionality. I wouldn't discount it especially when they want to be at the forefront for mobile applications.
In my uni, it is whatever they can get their hands on, usually their dead granddads kit or their parents. I've seen first start on medium format, holga or a Canon A1. I understand your point though since I started on the K1000 as well.
I already have a card reader, in fact i Have 2, 1 USB and 1 Firewire. But if you travel, losing every bit of weight kinda helps, losing a carder helps towards that. My 1dsmk2 shoots SD but i'm not going to buy a card for it either.
Yeah that sucks, what the hell is wrong with Apple, why not keep the two of them as options. Now the only expansion comes from a single FW800 port. This is where Windows laptops do it better, they give you the card reading slots, and the Express slot. Apple did the right thing with the 13" but went backwards with the 15", not even bothering to update the 17" with them both, where its size would have allowed it! A CF reader would have been better for the Pro shooters. I'd rather have this than the inclusive price drop.
But at least we know its an Apple SD card reader so it must be better! I wonder if it can read the other 3 card formats that are the same size like windows laptops, seriously sucks hard if it is just SD. Why bother.
Some might be rabid but others hold them to a high standard, if you actually sit in a mac forum long enough you'll notice the huge amounts of whining and dissatisfaction with Apple. These are over little details as well because they expect more from Apple and are quite knowledgeable and know what they want. Don't generalise.
The trouble is, other than slashdot and a few other non-mainstream websites, how do those who bury their heads in the sand find out?
On the flip side.
I run a website explaining photography, I provide links to loads of other photographs sites but I get loads of hits on my site because of a lens I reviewed a few months back. It isn't even a professional review, just me explaining my new lens type of review but with loads of pics. Next to the lens review link is another page with details for photographers explaining their civil rights as photographers to what they can and can't do with cameras. Since it's been up, 5 people have clicked the link.
I guess people are just not interested and want their head in the sand or they know their rights?
The thing is, I can download illegal music and then purchase legal music, does this mean they counted the illegal music as a lost sale even though I also bought legitimate music? How can anybody know what I'm doing. As you said there are lies...
I would argue the heart is more important and therefore we should have 2 of them instead. Since most people die of heart failure than kidney failure.

You're an idiot.

Space and weight, i'm pedantic about these things.
It would be nice if eSata could daisy chain and carry power and information through the one cable like firewire.

*thumbs up* CrackedButter and 2 other Mac fanboys like this.
All the more reason for Apple to do it and get in their first. I'm not bothered either way, but Apple like to be first with things.

Posting as AC gives you an extra hour, we'll be round at 5 instead. Yours, the Plod.
Hey the youtube video is of poor quality, do you know where I can find an mp3 version?
If you don't know the spin but are aware of it surely it would make you think harder?
I agree on the standard hardware but they certainly wrap it up in a much more sophisticated way than the rest of the computer manufacturers.

Look what I can do with my MacBook and a single FireWire port: http://jonathanjk.wordpress.com/2008/12/30/hard-drive-nostalgia/
I would have thought firewire would be better suited since it can handle a higher voltage. Oh well.
It is either this or wireless power charging, these companies are delaying the obvious.
So is IBM the bad guy now I just need to know before I comment.
Microsoft can never have enough beta testers as history has proven.
